As a convert from Jehovah’s Witness I can honestly say the traditional Latin mass is where it’s at. I used to go to the Novus Ordo mass for awhile but it’s nothing like the TLM. Prior to the pandemic around 21% of Catholics went to mass. Post pandemic only around 9% go to mass. The Novus Ordo has only had a 2% growth since 2020. But Latin mass parishes throughout America bring in 250,000+ people to mass every month. With a weekly average of $15,000-20,000 in collections. And even with the all the hate and restrictions thrown at it has had a 28% growth. That says a lot!

"Post pandemic..." one could make a case that those who have quit church (barring something like extreme fear of catching COVID) were just "cultural Catholics" who attended church for wrong motives.

Nice to see such joyful seminarians. Based on my understanding of seminary, it a time for discernment. Only one out three of you will make it to ordination. Many will either get sidelined or discern out of the seminary. Wonder how many of the seminarians were 100% up front on their applications. I have discovered that many lie on their application to get into seminary. Speaking from my own experience, when you tell the truth about yourself on the application, you are denied entry by your bishop. Lets be clear, if any of you lied on your application to get into seminary, then I sincerely hope when you give your first blessing at ordination of your bishop, that you regret it because anything you over look and did not divulge on the application will come back to haunt you. I hold my head high knowing I never lied on my application and can walk away a better man, unlike the cowards who with hold viable information on their application to slip through the cracks. Nonetheless, I would never wish anyone to have to sit through an 8 to 10 hour psych eval and not one shred of evidence of that report is shared with you because the diocese posseses it. It is a fact that bishops now take that psych eval and give it to their insurance company to see if you are a risk to their diocese. It is no longer about the diocese discerning whether you have a legitimate calling, but about protecting the assets of the church. If you are high risk, you are not welcomed to discern the priesthood. I am speaking from experience and this is the problem today. Hell, Saint Peter wouldn't pass the psych eval today. Most of the apostles wouldn't make it in today's climate because they would be considered "high risk" for fleeing Christ in the Garden of Gesthsemmne. Bottom line, the Church has created the priest shortage turning away many men with legitimate callings. They just don't want you...but have let in many alcoholics, psychomaniacs suffering from depression, practicing homosexuals, and so forth. You just can't make this stuff up....nonetheless, I wish the men discerning at Conception well. My dad's cousin is a monk there and I have been on retreat there. Love the abbey and the monks.
