This, inspiring, compelling, motivated movie of one teacher never give up of kids that were never given a chance because of their low social economic back ground, everything was against the odds, but one thing he had was to believe all these kids had value in society, he saw there gifts, talents, and most of all those kids started to believe in themselves, the education today has to be taylor made to that individual, to enjoy and passion in why they want to learn and achieve their goals in life, Ron Clarke did more than that he saw leaders, achievers, if there one thing we all can learn is not about throwing money at the problem, its about working through issues to bring a solution, the world over to conditions by the Governments , and the powers to be, its about time that this movie go to every school in every country in a simple solution that I’m sure can be done in any school world wide, make it enjoyable and fun, and the most important of it all as practical to learn.

Anshu - you are wrong - teachers with self respect don't put up with that sort of behaviour, neither should they as they are human beings with lives of their own. I have seen so many newly qualifieds who start off like this and end up quitting or becoming ill and that isn't respectful of the profession. Parents need to bring kids up correctly to respect adults especially teachers.

I note some the comments below, some are positive forward thinking, good thinking pals and some negative outright hostile which is sad for Mr C was able to reach out to them with and dedication to teach them self worth, respect, discipline and improve their prostect for success when others "the system" have shunned and they reponded. He talked to them rather than at them. Children from deprived areas do what they do best ' survival ' in the face of adversity, politicians are too busy featheing their own nests to care. Lord knows we need the likes of Mr C in our inner cities. Very moving and inspiring movie thank for uploading it

I have watched this movie many times and never tire of it. I feel schools should have this movie in there library to show our children that positive discipline can and is effective. You can do anything!

Really good movie, I am a native born New Yorker left in 97'; missed this story of inspiration and perseverance! All you need is a chance and a lot of "true" Love, I call it the Love of Almighty GOD & Christ, always working, even when we can't see Him! Thank you and be blessed!

Every child matters that was our ethos, encorage children with positive comments. Negative plus hurtful comments last a lifetime. A teacher. 5-11

The part where Shameka’s vulnerable side came out. When Mr Clark was ready to quit. Then she found out he wasn’t such a bad teacher after all. Because he was able to help her tap into her unique qualities. And then she really got scared, because he was going to get fired. So Shameka really had a soft heart inside her armor. Despite her hard homelife.

The next generation when we treat them like that. Nothing more and nothing less. The only losses we have are not giving them a fighting to be than a part of chart where we count all that's wrong with our society. When I lived in one of these communities, everyone protected each other but hostel towards outsiders. If no one knew you there, you'd be asking for something to you after dark. I still can't forget the infighting between members that I had to ignore. If I started, I'll only stop when I'm dead. Everyone I met, was a good person in my eyes having to live with crime staining their lives, just cuz they couldn't make ends meet with jobs that don't risk your life. Life is precious. This movie feels very rare to me. The students felt real to me like the ones I studied with, as a kid.
