The Rookie 4x12 Parallels & Callbacks (Chenford heavy)

This was Chenford’s episode. A double date with their dates. No, ma’am. That was a Chenford date! So lots of Chenford parallels. Many of the parallels could actually weave into other parallels, so they may seem a little disjointed.
1) Tim is still fishing for signs Lucy is interested in him 3x14 & 4x03
2) Grey and Romeo have something in common, they both lost a partner 1x03 & 2x15
3) Chenford sharing food 1x02 & 2x06 (requested by Kari & M on twitter) - the mushroom clip can also be in the “too well” parallel.
4) They know each other “too well” 2x11
We were cheated out of seeing the eating together scenes where Lucy knows Tim doesn’t like mushrooms or Tim knows Lucy likes veggie burger and fries.
5) Chenford in the morgue 2x11- The closeness (which you see more in the next parallel clip), the blue light, the getting off the elevator.
6) Chenford Body Cam App 1x09- they use the body cam again in 1x20, but they are not together, so you won’t see that here. I liked here the contrast in the orange to the blue colors, too.
7) Tim saying Lucy is not his friend to not his partner to his girlfriends. (I wasn’t bothered by this line at all b/c of the central theme of the episode being that Lucy is at the front of Tim’s mind pretty much always, and well she’s technically not his partner even tho they more so act like equals)

Another scene that I think could fit with chenford knowing each other too well is in 3x09 when Lucy has her closure checklist and Tim throws it out the window and she pulls out another copy because she knew he would do that

The only people Tim's ever denied being close to Lucy to were his (love life) partners. Like, I kinda am in need of someone who'd make a video of Chenford being Chenford since day one. Like, I know I'm watching the show knowing they finally got together, but still, it feels like in the fandom the mood was like "we shipped them into being together", whilst watching the show (and the interviews) it clearly looks like they are a slowburn (something like "we know we want them to end up together, but that's got to wait a little"). 'Cause it's literally like in every single season at the end there's a major emotional breakthrough point for them that's coming a long way of the whole season to it and then there's a new stage of them being just a little closer, so, I mean, I do think that getting them together was only a matter of time (still kinda fantacising about what could've been in 4x01 if it wasn't for the call, though). Also, I do think the writers wanted to take it really slow not just for the development purposes (which is obviously still the thing, 'cause they needed to be sure they want to take all the risks and stuff), but for making people watch in the wait just a little more. But I like the way they handled Chenford and the details, honestly

I just have one question when will they finally get together. since the first season i want to see them together but the more i hope the less it happens. Seems like we have Jay and Hailey from Chicago PD here. the two also took ages to get together. all their colleagues knew but they both didn't realizing that they like each other. They should also give Lucy a job offer so that Tim realizes that she is the only and right one for him. I won't give up hope again this time. If Jay and Hailey made it then Tim and Lucy will make it too. Great video ❤️❤️❤️

I’m probably one of the few who is The Rookie fan that doesn’t also watch PD. A fan of slow burns, I am enjoying their journey. Even though they leave a lot of things for us to fill in, (I kinda like that-it’s fun to analyze and come up with theories based off what we know about them and the rules of the show), To me, their story is so complicated in so many ways, so many obstacles, it’s what I think makes them so interesting, it will be interesting to see how they work through them all once they really put them out front and center. But, yeah I enjoy them and I enjoy the show as whole too, so I’m not stressing too much about when and if they get together. I’ve watched a lot TV, and they seem to be on that trajectory. I like how the writers have said they want to be respectful of the relationship (which right now is building that deeper friendship, which is important), and find the best way to bring them together. The writers released a statement at the beginning of this season saying, if they ever do decide to have these two get together, it won't be any time soon. They don't want to show an unethical relationship (ie. Tim being Lucy's superior). I don't think they'd show them starting a relationship while Tim has authority over Lucy or even until some time had passed since he was her superior.

Alexi also said they are trying to find the best way to that relationship, recently, so I’m confident it will happen, and I like that they are at least dropping some things while they find the best way. but you’re right. It has to happen honestly and neither of them would jeopardize each other’s careers. Tim is very buy the book. It’s right for their characters to be in the positions they are in. Doing something else would feel forced to their story. And right now it makes a difficult hard road for that relationship to form. But, with that it’s gonna be hard earned and that excites me. Think the payoff to a hard earned slow burn is gonna be epic!
