Eh it is until you realize that most of the time they won’t have guns, and that the rest of the time it’s highly unlikely the people who brought guns to protect themselves actually know how to use them to defend themselves. If you don’t know how to use a weapon in a confrontation, you’re essentially just bringing a weapon for your attacker to use, which is very considerate of you but also not furthering your desire to be safer in any way. I’m not against people empowering themselves to protect themselves and others, but just owning a gun doesn’t do that and defense classes aren’t a requirement of open carry. The number of times open carry has further incited a situation to the point of violence is also much higher than the number of times it’s effectively protected someone against harm too.

First lesson in police academy "don't be a hotshot in front of an armed robber just observe closely and report it afterwards" Edit: Thank you for your likes, here's a story from one of my instructors in police academy. "One day i had to attend a funeral was traveling on a empty road early in the morning. Two boys stopped me and pointed guns at me, i tried to make a joke and one of em got really angry and put his gun at my head and just about pull the trigger. He took my wallet from my pocket and god i was praying that he won't see my badge(service card in Pakistan). He took the money and threw away my wallet and car keys. Thank god they were in a hurry and didn't see my ID/badge." That instructor was the one who gave us the above lesson. Thank you for your time.
