Dance artists are often close friends due to the nature of the training and company life, but sometimes a close friendship translates into something special on stage. This is definitely the case here. I have a few quibbles with technique, but the chemistry, care and trust between them is lovely to witness and is in the spirit of The Nutcracker.

We should not overlook the contribution of the orchestra and the interpretation: not all companies can field a first-class orchestra like this!

I probably enjoyed this couple dance Wright's Nutcracker more than any other. Sambe does not have the "ideal" classical ballet body but he has such charm and sells the part and his jumps (loved the assembles) are lovely while his frequent partner Anna Rose is elegant and clear in her moves. I do wish she would practice more the gourguillades. Their symmetry is impressive.

Marcé is gay and has identified as gay for years. He's extremely open about his sexuality and has given numerous interviews about being a queer artist of color. More recently, he spoke about the connection between being honest about being gay and being able to be honest on stage in an interview with High Performance magazine from this past June.

Who are you to say that he doesn't have the exact type of body ? Are you an expert in classical ballet or a ballet dancer yourself with some level of authority to criticise him ? I think he's a perfect dancer in every way ... but I suppose that I have to respect your opinion because we all have our personal freedom of choice , but it doesn't mean I have to like your opinion .

@@Dawn-Songs No criticism intended, I love his dancing and have been following since he started doing competitions so it is very gratifying to see his huge level of success. The fact that Note that I put "ideal" in quotations. There are many excellent dancers who have not had or do not have the "ideal" classical ballet type. I do not need to provide you with my credentials on ballet and there is plenty written about "ideal" physical characteristics in both men and women, if you are interested. I certainly do not want to talk further about Marcelino as my point is that they he has used his body to become a fabulous dancer who impresses not only through his technique but through his acting, attention to detail and charm.

Then you must be very young indeed to make such a claim! I have had the good fortune to see many lovely Sugar Plum Fairies, live, over many, many decades, and danced in several professional Nutctacker productions - before yt even existed.
