I've had one for four years now. Love it, and have had no problems other than a frayed throttle return cable. I got mine when they first came out in 2019. Mods include: performance mufflers and large diameter, decatted pipes from TEC; DNA high flow intake; small LED signal lights; small headlight brackets; a tail chop kit from MK Designs that eliminates the rear fender; power module; solo seat; and a bunch of other little things. I think the HP is probably close to 60 now and it's lost 35 or so lbs. Now I just need to work on losing 15 lbs. off my body! Eliminating weight is the same thing as increasing horse power.

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentimental attachment to this genre of motorcycle. In the day, I had a '78 Yamaha XS650 vertical twin bike. Same basic design concept... #2 Learn to do your own oil-changes . It should be scalding-hot when you drop-it-out , then all the clutch-fibre materials and very-small metallic-bits , flush-out properly instead of dropping to all the flat-surfaces where they get picked-up by the new-oil.....then block-up your newly-installed-filter . and don't be bull-shitted by bike-shop techs/mechanics who tell you this isn;t-so . You can see the results yourself, done this-way , oil looks great even when you change-it . If it's dark and dirty , your filter has already-blocked and the bi-pass valve has opened, meaning unfiltered-oil . Done-properly , you will double the life of your engine , 3000k's is absolute tops for oil, heat kills oil and bikes run very-Hot . Dave NZ

Not mentioned in the video is just how nice that gearbox is. The clutch is also fairly light and works well. These are great. I have an interceptor. Nice fun bikes that are simple to maintain and don’t break the bank. Your comments about speed/power etc are spot on. Buy the sports bike if you want that. In the UK you need a 50cc to keep up with traffic. It’s THAT busy now.
@chrisfitzmaurice74847 ай бұрын
I've had an Interceptor for 10 months and about 2,400 miles. I'm still happy with it. It checks quite a few boxes for me: it looks great, sounds great, great gas mileage (about 55-60mpg) handles well, lots of aftermarket stuff. It'll cruise all day at 75mph no problem. Power and torque are plenty for most purposes. The six-speed gearbox is nice. The brakes work fine, the ergonomics are fine. It has a likeable personality and it's gotten *a lot* of compliments. But it's not a bike I'd want to ride to Alaska on. Or probably even 200 miles. The reason being that the suspension and seat are both stiff and kind of cobby. Around town it's fine but it wouldn't be fun riding it all day long. That and the foot pegs demand you work around them some because they're in the way when you put your feet down. The right mirror vibrates (the left one is fine) and it's hard to impossible to read the digital gas gauge in bright sunlight. Those are my only complaints.

The bad news with RE is they seem to have the Ducati problem. Of course RE bikes are much more affordable but what I mean is the problem is the service cost. With some folks saying they paid upwards of $800 for a single service. On a bike like the hunter 350 that’s like 20% of the cost of the bike for a service. And these bikes are schedule for services more often than most other bikes. Seems like they are basically giving the bikes away in order to make money on the back end servicing the bikes.

surely it’s not that expensive ..oil is easy to do your self and guess the valves are a effort to do at home

Yeah the falsehood it most people think they are 'cheap' bikes - add the running cost over its lifetime, which will probably be a lot shorter than most Japanese bikes and it ain't -a thing most reviewers don't address. I was thinking of getting one - then found I could buy a SV650 significantly cheaper......... and it will be significantly cheaper to own and last much longer...............

@@Alex-io6ky What about a major engine rebuild at 50,000 miles and replacing the other cheap components that will wear out?

@buzzinadventures4217 they are simple bikes you can service them yourself. They would run quite a lot even with routinely changing mineral oil

if many manufacturers will release bikes with very similar look to old ones, but with modern performance.....a lot of the collectibles will become cheaper

I like vintage looks mixed nicely with good, unobtrusive technology. I wonder how the seat will be on a long ride? That RE makes the bike easier to work on is good. Making it have excellent reliability is better. Thanks from…east Tennessee.

I put a leg over an RE int650. I need to lower the seat height by 2 inches. Otherwise I'll need a "short person" bike.

1500 euros for annual insurance is the reason why I won't buy a modern bike. Insurance for 20+ y.o. bike costs 200 euros.

While I haven’t ridden the Continental I have ridden a Kawasaki W650. It was a hoot. Have you tested the W800 yet? I would be curious to get your opinion comparing it the Continental GT.

The enfield is better in my opinion. The 6 speed trans from enfield blows the 5 speed away and the enfields have a massive aftermarket support from engine to suspension etc !the kawasaki has a lot of plastic a lot!
@ElCachorro97 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewslagle1974it is the opposite on the plastic part. Kawasaki have more chrome and better switches, unlike the einfield look like they outsourced it from cheap chinese oem.
