I'm an Interceptor owner, and not a cruiser fan, but I was wildly impressed by the Super Meteor when I saw the first one my local dealer got. It looks and feels so much more substantial than either of the other 650s. RE's build quality is very rapidly catching up to the powerhouse brands of the world. Gorgeous bike.
I have ridden one this summer and I gotta say it's a nice bike. 47 HP doesn't sound like much but it drives so well, even on the highway there is never a lack of power.

Have had the Super Meteor for 8 months now. It isn't perfect, but I don't regret it at all. I had some memorable moments with it, especially with the community I got involved with. I did add bits of accessories to make it more personal and comfortable, and it's becoming even better.
@ChancellorBeeHaw Жыл бұрын
what issues did you come across?
@TurbonicSpyder Жыл бұрын
@rhysincoll3176 there was a recall where the spark plug cap/cover was leaking when washed with a pressure washer. They replaced that free of cost. While I didn't personally face this problem, several owners have had to replace the chain/sprocket and/or brake pads very early (although that may be due to their riding style). The suspension is stiff, not really comfortable for passengers ( better seats or air cushions along with a backrest helps a lot). Please keep an eye on all the screws, nuts, and bolts. Some owners narrowly avoided disaster because they noticed the screws coming loose, especially at the rear sprocket. Do note that this is for Indian version. International models may or may not have the same issue.
@ChancellorBeeHaw Жыл бұрын
@@TurbonicSpyder blimey thats quite a few issues. ill say, i guess its their first year of this bike, so theres bound to be a few things they need to iron out. i remember when they first released the modern classic 350, a few of the speedometers had some issues in the 2021 model, and had a lot of people upset. Was a relatively easy fix, but i guess that happens, some things will always slip by and are only ever found until a larger amount of people start riding the bike.
@TurbonicSpyder Жыл бұрын
@rhysincoll3176 Yeah, mine is one of the early batches, especially considering the color option I chose (Astral Green). But from what I've seen, things are improving. Unfortunately, there are some things we have yet to receive, those being some of the accessories they've shown off, although that's more of a regional issue, laws don't really allow those items to be sold, at least as a first party option( handlebars, fog lights ( a necessity for some, as the headlights are inadequate), luggage options, some mysterious styling accessories as well).
@ChancellorBeeHaw Жыл бұрын
@@TurbonicSpyder oh thats a shame about the accessories. ive found that theres good access for parts where i am, or you order them online through sites that set RE accessories. Im from australia, so not exactly close to anything, and there are stores that stock a fair few parts. however when theyre out of stock, takes a week before theyre even in the country.

My Classic 350 was in for a service today so I took a super meteor out for a few hours. I've never ridden a cruiser before. I liked the side sweeping bars and the extra power. I soon got used to the forward footrest and found it to be comfortable initially. I could feel each year change, it was crisp and positive. On the twisties, it was enjoyable and could be easily and comfortably flicked through the bends. Downsides. It has a very wide turning circle. After three hours and despite regular breaks, the front of my hips and thighs were starting to hurt and I was shuffling in my seat to get comfortable. I enjoyed the additional power, reaching 60, 70 and beyond wasn't a problem, but on dual carriageway and motorways the wind blast was a pain, if I owned this bike i'd have a screen fitted.

A beautiful bike, saw it last year at EICMA. It really looks good with a rider your height, not sure how it might be for 6"5' and above. Value proposition is outstanding and it is ine of the new REs that are really gaining traction in Europe. I hope the new Himalayan will fit me and my height as I'm really ready to downsize BHP-wise and to enjoy the slower but more emotional side of life.

Style-wise, that SuperMeteor is undeniably well thought out and brilliantly executed. Put a windscreen on it and a pillion backrest so that from 50 metres, it's indistinguishable from the Triumph beside it. On video the fit and finish appears exemplary, so if the ride is up to the lofty standards set by the styling and build, then Royal Enfield is about to have another runaway hit, incredibly successful model. It seems they are the new hotness, stepping out ahead of the old and shaggy...

What an awesome bike! I bought an Indian Scout 1200 new in 2017 to try to slow myself down a bit. With 100bhp and a huge spread of torque it hasn't worked; I chase down sportsbikes & Adv bikes and scrape the pegs everywhere - NOT what a cruiser is built for. The SM650 is a far better cruiser option and at nearly half the price of a new Scout represents amazing value for money. Looking forward to watching more of your exploits together. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Quick recommend as you are changing between bikes often - you should take a look at the carabiner style helmet locks since you can move them between bikes seamlessly and they’re so small you can just keep on the bars or in your jacket when not riding. Would make locking up your helmets very easy and less hassle than bringing them with you on errands/lunches/etc. Makes it so much easier when my girlfriend comes along for rides and I need the extra lock so we can leave them behind. (Maybe not in central London tho 😬) Cheers. Happy holidays.

I did 50,000 miles on mine, So of the two, I would go for the T'bird Storm, they hold their value well too. I like that it has a centre stand. I like the overall appearance and the no frills engineering. I have a 1975 Yamaha XS650 which has similar power output, slightly less braking and slightly more sporty seating position. By the time I have finished with its renovation it would have cost me about the same as if I had bought the RE 2nd hand. I suspect that the Enfield is most likely more economical, I also expect that the Yamaha is a lot louder abeit with completely standard "silencers" which were allowed in the day. You appear to be quite tall and yet you dont dwarf the bike as with some of the modern offerings. Try to keep this one away from the tea leafs.

It's like nearly there.......but the side panels accentuate the awkward frame lines at that area, they should have used panels that cover the frame and "flow" to the rear. The number plate ruins the bike like it did to HD Sportsters.

Love a cruiser , but after owning two at 800cc and a 1400cc. I'd definitely think your miss the extra torque on anything lower than 800cc especially if you want to travel with friends.

Hi mate you did a great job and you are honest about the back seat issue ..the back seat is not comfortable . But still it is a really good bike comparing with looks and price . I own one and I love it .

It's a very good looking cruiser type bike. But I would think 46BHP is a little low for good cruising. My old z650 had 64bhp and that's nice for keeping on about 150-60kmph.

Be interesting to hear your impressions when you've had it a while especially about the rear suspension which seems to be a con for a lot of reviewers. I'm in love with my Meteor 350 but the Super Meteor is still a maybe. Loved the old Thames Barge at 5:37 much better looking than all those pointy nosed Yachts.😀
