The Chieftain Philip Farquharson of Invercauld, Yr. had formally assumed the role of Chieftain from his great uncle, who at 102 years old had held the role for 73 years and never missed a games day since being appointed in 1948.
The second Thursday in August each year is Ballater Highland Games day in beautiful Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. With the Games cancelled for 2021 due to Covid, the committee marked the occasion in Monaltrie Park, Ballater, with a picnic and fun day, involving local dancers, pipers and musicians.
