My mother wouldn't let me go to the "Patio en la Luz". She said there was too many pachucos! Not to worry, I would tell her we were going to a dance at Saint Frances and go instead to the Patio because I just loved the Royal Jesters and all those cute pachucos. LOL By the way, the Royal Jesters did play at St. Francis on Friday nights so I got to enjoy them. They could play any song and it always sounded like the original.

I was only 5 yrs old and I used to fall asleep with this song cause my sisters (6) in all played it for me, after several years later in my teenage year I got hooked to the Royal Jesters. I read their story. Rest in Peace Mr. Lawson 😇, left a legacy with us.

I used to converse with Henry,Louie and Oscar. One time I went all the way to Austin to have louie sign my "We Go Together Album" I had all three of them sign it. I was offered $800.00 for it some twenty years ago and I asked him if he was crazy. You see it is about the music and the times these guys gave to us. Not any amount of money that someone can offer. I have albums and 45's of these guys and other local groups. When I die they go to my kids and grandchildren. U cant buy these memories.

I can honestly say even I heard this song on the radio in 62. I was only 5, and in the Chicago area, but it was played there. I'm sure my oldest brother heard it in San Antonio, he did his basic training at Fort Sam in 1966. Of course now I actually Live in San Antonio. Been here 19 years now and have found out over those years this has been a very 'musical' and celebrity oriented city! :)

Went to a New Years Eve dance last night and I had the pleasure of listening to Louie Escalante sing this song live. He was a guest performer along with Jimmy Edward. I had never seen the Royal Jesters live so it was a treat watching Louie singing it live. He's family was there and they video taped it. Maybe they'll post it on YuTube.

@mezskr4 The dance was held at Pueblo Dance Hall in San Antonio. It is located on a street behind Ingram Mall. It's a very nice place. It was basically an older crowd. On Christmas day they had Ruben Ramos. Louie and Jimmy Edward were backed up by Henry Lee and the Tribute band. Some of the musicians were guys that played with Sunny, Latin Breed and so forth. They have dances on some Fridays.

If you're lucky enough to have someone who loves you Then be glad that you've got someone who loves you 'Cause the lips that were warm can grow cool Listen to the wisdom of a fool When you take her poor heart and you do something to it And you think to yourself, oh, why did I do it You may find that the world can be cruel Listen to the wisdom of a fool Now I had a love just the same as you And I was a fool not to see But you still have time to say you love her I'm afraid it's too late for me So go back to the arms that you know will be waiting Hold her close in your arms and be glad that she's waiting You'll be happy, believe me, if you'll Only listen to the wisdom of a fool Now I had a love just the same as you And I was a fool not to see But you still have time to say you love her I'm afraid it's too late for me So go back to the arms that you know will be waiting Hold her close in your arms and be glad that she's waiting You'll be happy, believe me, if you'll Only listen to the wisdom of a fool Listen to the wisdom of a fool
