That is one of those games that just stays with you. I found an old beat-up book of the Rubaiyat in a thrift store all by itself on a couch and remembered about the game. "But still the Vine her ancient ruby yields, And still a Garden by the Water blows." I had no idea it was actually a real book that was on the Titanic, it makes the game that much more epic.

Only by seeing the thumbnail, all of the Adventure out of Time memories came rushing in like the water through the halls. Awesome video!

I just graduated from a world-renowned bookbinding program and I've heard so much about this book - right next to my bench, there actually was an awesome poster of the Sangorski and Sutcliffe Rubaiyat mounted on the wall... what an amazing piece of lost history!

Titanic: Adventure Out of Time was the best game that Cyberflix ever created. I bought it as soon as it was released and if I had a computer that worked as it should I'd still be playing it. I used to play it for HOURS when I was a teenager. I can still hear the background music...

This isn't the only significant book to be lost in the wreck of the RMS Titanic. A new, unfinished 'Thinking Machine' story was brought by the author onto the ship, who sadly perished in the sinking.

In all likelihood the Rubaiyat COULD still survive, If it was boxed up or in some container then the paper could still survive, Paper has been recovered readable from Titanic before due to being in suitcases, Albeit rarely. If the Rubaiyat is still deep within the stern in a container then it could still survive.

I just returned to Titanic: Adventure out of time the other day. It still holds on to your imagination even after 25 years.

Always followed 'TITANIC', but haven't heard of it's story here, or of the book. Same also in the title of the book, or the author. Maybe I will research this. The cover IS quite beautiful.

Yes I played that game back in the late 90s . I really liked it, and I remember saying that I would not get lost if I could walk the Titanic, for the game did pretty well in getting you familiar with the vessel's layout. My young mind though never was able to figure out the end at the time and I was not able to finish it. Thank you for mentioning this though! It is on steam and I going to buy it 😁.

The book was located in the aft cargo hold. I'd imagine the space isn't hard to access, because the said cargo holds are just massive holes at this point. The question is how the space looks like, it's entirely possible that it's a flat pancake, and if that's the case, no chance. If the space is SOMEWHAT preserved, which is possible too because the aft section of the Stern is the most preserved section, then it's possible to send a ROV into that space and have a look around, but whatever it would look like, the room was quite big, and it would be full of debris and silt. 1 in a 1000 chance of finding a Book in some sort of a preserved crate. It's just not worth the risk.

If you're going to quote the Rubaiyat, as you do at the start, why in the world don't you quote from the Firzgerald translation, which is the great one and also the one that was in the book you're talking about?

Having seen other copies of the same edition of the Rubaiyat used to create the one lost in the sinking, the funniest part of this video is the idea that anyone could spirit that monster away in a chalise.

A would love to see what's left the book. Sure it's not in good condition any longer. A lot would have to be done to possibly retrieve it. Personal note: My father was born six months before Titanic met its tragic fate.
