Brilliant, isn't it? The vocal however, and this is often unknown to people, is provided by Paul Da Vinci, not Alan Williams who appears in the video. Da Vinci was going to join the band, but changed his mind and pursued a solo career.
@captainsemicolon11 ай бұрын
@@adamelos You are wrong. This was a demo song for Showaddywaddy (hence the "bop showaddywaddy" throughout). The song was not meant to be released and so Paul joined Penny Fathing Records. Showaddywaddy turned down the song. BBC's TOTPs was then due to have Sparks on the show, but they were unable to get a work permit in time, so the BBC rang around the record companies, one of them said "Yep we have song" and it happened to be this track. John of the Rubettes grabbed Alan who he had worked with previously as Baskin & Copperfield, and other session musicians filled the rest of the line up. And the rest is history.

One of the best songs ever written, I was thirteen when this came out, it’s brilliant and takes me back to such a wonderful childhood with my family. What a voice this lead singer has, AMAZING! 💕💕💕

I was 10 when it came out & it's possible to hear this song on Japanese TV programs as BGM. A true classic.

What an amazing performance! The opera of pop! Super song, vintage 1974, a great year for music. It gets even better with age, and brings memories flooding back 🙂
