After 1 ride on the stock 150cc GY6, it's time to go bigger! We're talking 171cc Big Bore Kit :)
PREV VLOG - • FIRST RIDE on a 150cc ...
vv MORE INFO & SOCIAL MEDIA vv
Welcome to my Honda Ruckus Build Series! In this series, I will be showing you the entire process of making doing a custom stretched, slammed, GY6 engine swap Ruckus/Zoomer! I'll cover parts needed, installation tips, mod suggestions and more, but most of all, having fun showing you the choices I make to build a super cool custom Ruckus!
In this episode, Ryan and I install the 171cc Big Bore kit on the Ruckus, run into some issues with the exhaust, fix it with fire, and get this thing back on the road!
HUGE thanks to Ryan from TheRuckShop for coming out to work on this build with me. It's been an absolute blast and it was awesome to learn a crap ton from him about this bike. Couldn't have done it without him and can't wait to have him out here in Austin again!!
Enjoy the video/series or find it useful? Hit that like button, subscribe if you aren't already, and share it with your friends! It helps me and the channel out a lot :) Thanks!

Thanks for the awesome support every day, y'all!! LET'S TRY TO HIT 10K LIKES!! Thought I'd answer some common questions from the comments. I'll edit this as I see more FAQs. 1. *Speedometer app?* - I'm using DigiHUD Speedometer (Android) in this vid 2. *Why didn't you install the big bore to start with (while the motor was out)?* - Wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything wrong with the motor itself first (helps eliminate root causes of any problems). Also wanted to see the performance gain between the stock GY6 and the big bore and 28mm carb 3. *You didn't need an impact socket!!!1!1!!* - Maybe not, but the main problem was that I didn't have a 1/2" drive socket for the impact gun, so I had to use an adapter. Just caused a lot of rattling and would not allow the impact gun to provide full torque on the socket. I've always used my standard sockets with the impact gun no problem, but for this, after having the drive face come off, I just want to get every bit of punch out of it as I can :)

The only reason you would need an impact socket would be if the chrome socket couldn't handle the impact and broke. Otherwise they both will torque the same.

I was watching the packer game yesterday and I thought to myself if you paint the ball with UV reflective paint you could eliminate all the photographers on the sidelines and the NFL would save millions of dollars and the ball would be centered in every shot. No human could adjust the zoom on the camera the way a computer following a profile can. This will be the next job to see the dull axe of progress. I work in Industrial Automation and this technology has been around for a while.

on the 150 you were still probably using the diaphragm type carb, that carb gives a delayed response on the power. with the d type piston carb that you have installed, that gives almost an instant response in power and that's why you have such a difference in feel in the motor.

Impact sockets are just made of a more malleable steel... standard chrome ones are a bit brittle more likely to break from impact guns... that being said I have used standard ones for years and never had a problem. It doesn’t matter to much what ones you use in the grand scheme.

That rubber piece is called an O-ring, utilizing gasket maker on the intake to cylinder head joint is a bad idea. The gasket maker upon tightening can be forced into the opening of the port causing blockage, be it small that it is, it can still cause air turbulence in a bad way.

I had the issue on my Ruckus where even after MASHING the nut onto the drive face it would come lose. It would start and run fine without the CVT cover on but once replaced it would make terrible grinding sounds and the whole assembly would come lose. Never figured out the issue and paid a shop to fix it. :/

Seriously though! I've only ever seen one custom Ruckus in Austin, but I know there's gotta be more.
