And in 2019 the RFU spent £2.7m paying it's Exec Officers on the board(6 people). 10% belt tightening their would have negated this

It just LOOKS like RFU have cut costs now to make life easier for Sarries to come back up. It might not be the case but that is exactly what it looks like and its frightening. Especially knowing how much the board of RFU are earning. Its disgraceful.

Not just as a London scottish fan. It's devastating. Being able to fund up and coming talent from below premiership will only make rugby stronger. As if we didn't have enough hardship in championship already.

Very sad but I'd say the gulf between the Premiership and the Championship will never be bridged. Ten years since we had a genuine promoted club, and even then it cost millions. London Welsh went to the wall trying to keep up remember. Maybe ring fencing is the only way?

@Captain Insano Shows no mercy Falcons fan here. We relegated last year, rightly so. We've lost a first choice back line and half a pack. There must be a banana skin or two down here, but we've still not been beaten yet. Saracens are a premiership outfit, they'll trounce everyone and be straight back up. Keeping to the salary cap will mean they won't run up unsustainable debts anymore. This is the best thing that could have happened to Saracens, they'd have gone the way of London Welsh the way they were spending. Opinions?

@@adamhosken6117 Pirates are up there but Ealing are the big spenders. They've got a Sugar Daddy who's put £25 million in and they're still not up to it. But what happens if they promote, the Sugar Daddy loses interest, suffers a business collapse or succumbs to the Reaper? We have another London Welsh, - misery for the fans. Premiership clubs need to be sustainable businesses. Constantly buying in expensive players, and lower teams gameplan based on the fear of the drop isn't helping. As Nigel Owens keeps telling us, "this is not soccer"!

Rugby 🏉 needs the championship to survive, , otherwise rugby will die , home grown players will not get the experience of playing high quality rugby , the championship gives players the next step up,, academy players will also suffer as well , trying to get game time under their belts , so they an can progress to play top level rugby 🏉, trouble is people at top have ruined rugby , R F U , TOP DOGS ON HIGH SALARIES , and big bonus , have over spent , And Blown the budget , The R f U NEEDS LOOKING AT AS AHOLE , BECAUSE SOME THING GOING WRONG . Money gone some where , trying to cut money from championship won’t work ,

Professional Rugby isn't a sport, it is a business first, second and third. Yes it does everything possible to hide this fact, but businesses make cold hard business decisions for their shareholders and the people who make the money out of it (the players coaches etc). All businesses are just two bites away from eating themselves.
