Hi from Germany. New follower and so grateful for your genious ideas and wise advice. Am a professional gardener and graduated biologist. Retiring soon and ready for a side business. Am already producing in 2 small polytunnels, owning some grow lights and stuff. Now I will start my own business with slow flowers, microgreens and vegetables especially yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius). Thanks for your great channel

LG Amanda

Thank you for your info, glad to find someone in Australia. We are currently up in Qld living out of a tent and traveling around thanks to the last few years, wish i had of known about microgreens earlier it may of helped us keep our property. Im keen to start small scale and hopefully build up from there and maybe help us get back on our feet.

@@PepeFassos thanks mate!! I noticed you had to start off with Jiffy pots because of the regulations here in Aus, is that still the same or would I be able to start with a few trays now?

Hey Pepe, I just watched a few videos from 6 years ago, and they're great! You were talking about the regulations in NSW and how you could only sell in those little 80/80mm pots. Is this still the case if you don't want to get approval from your local council?
@PepeFassos
@PepeFassos 4 күн бұрын
@nighty7364 Hey friend 👋. Yes your right. I did say that and only continued that way until I could afford to build a food safe packing area. Every state has different requirements. The best way is to approach council and ask your food safety officer what you will need to have. It's really quite easy and they understand start ups too. Let me know if your struggling with them and I'll try point you in the right direction 🙏🍃🌱

I'm glad that those get rich quick people get on your nerves as much as they do me. Admittedly, they're a big reason I got into farming, because it seemed like a viable career. Well, a massive loan and a land purchase later, microgreens are profitable, but make up only a small part of what I do overall. Sure, you could grow a million dollars worth of micros, but can you sell it? That's the hard part. Love the setup of your tunnels. I may need to put one up just for microgreens! Cheers, Alex @ Moon Farm

Brooooo... Moon Farm is in the house 💪. Great to hear from you my friend. Yup... you nailed it . A lot of glamorous BS out there misleading poor folk into anxiety and stress. I'm like you.. I grow veg to supplement my loans and debts until I get the elusive "contract" to hopefully supply microgreens to a distribution company 🤞.. or not. The world needs farmers more than ever and interested beginners will need to face some facts ... but if done right the rewards are massive. I'll do a vid on edible flowers soon bro. I'm stoked it's going well for you now 🙌 See you soon 😊 🙏🌱

@@PepeFassos I probably sell more edible flowers than microgreens these days. Such an easy item to upsell at the farmers market because they look awesome. I'm producing like 10 servings a week right now, but have more that haven't started blooming yet (marigolds & borage mostly) Definitely doing way more next year! We need more farmers who care about the food they grow, not about what can make them a ton of cash. The ones just in it for money are obvious at the market!
