I am not an athlete and am watching this video just to try and get a sense of the game. I am a sports videographer by trade, so I am also trying to expand my knowledge of sports that I can film. As a long time golfer, I found that this video did a very nice job at explaining the basic understanding of golf to someone who doesn't know how to play. I also appreciate how you didn't go into detail about all of the different situations regarding water hazards and unplayable balls, as that would likely have been too much to remember for some. Thanks! I try and make all my videos easy for a complete beginner to understand, and I know Golf has some long-winded rules about that sort of thing. Being too detail orientated would make my videos difficult to understand and therefore unwatchable so I generally don't do it. Appreciate the comments! :)

growing up, I hated golf and thought it was dump, I thought how can people like this game, but just recently. I used to work at a golf course, I seen a lot of people playing the game, and I ending up really liking it. I still learning the game, and I know it takes so much of hard work to play like Tiger Woods, but I wish I started to play golf sooner when I was young...if you guys watch the greatest game ever played. its a movie and its about a low class man name frances, its really good story and very inspiring it.

Could you explain how golf clubs work? Like drivers and sand wedges because I don’t understand those

A driver is the largest head golf club, used to send the ball as far as possible. Woods are similar, they are designed to drive the ball certain distance (and no longer made of wood). Irons are angled metal clubs designed to make the ball land in certain places with/without spin. Wedges are specialist angled metal clubs designed to get the ball out of tricky terrain (such as sand). Putter is the final club used to sink the ball in the hole with precision accuracy. There's a golf course near Montreal, Canada, where on one hole there's a high-voltage pylon standing in the middle of the fairway. The house rules, as written on your scorecard, state that if your ball lies behind the pylon or too close to it, you can move it sideways without penalty and without it counting as a stroke. Is that kind of house rule common around the world?

I don't think so. Not many pylons in the middle of fairways where I'm from. In fact - there are none. This is the first I've ever heard of it!

I genuinely wonder how golfers find their golf balls. It’s one thing if it’s televised and you have super high quality cameras following where your ball gets hit; but when you’re just playing casually with friends, how do you know where it goes?? you hit it so far away there’s just no way of tracking it on such a massive field

Allthough very rare, and (as far as I know) it has never been done on tv, 3 situations have officially been recorded in which a golf player actually made a 4 under par on a par-5 hole. This is known as a Double-Albatros or a Condor. Also, while it's theoretically possible, but not yet technically possible to do this (no such thing has ever been recorded), there is an informal term for a 5 under par as well, which is an Ostrich. It's considered to be technically impossible at this time, because it takes par-6 hole, of which there are just a few, to do it, because of a distance that has not made with one stroke in history, and because the material you'd need is said to not yet exist. Just a fun fact.
