**VIDEO SPOILERS BELOW** Patrick's Parabox Review, starting with what I liked: - The mechanics of this game started as mind blowing and somehow got crazier with every new world. Miraculously, the puzzles manage to be digestible despite working with impossible paradoxes. - The game masterfully teaches without words, almost to a fault. Every single level gives a crumb of knowledge to the player, which adds up over time. Over time, I was amazed at how much I had learned without feeling any struggle. - This is the perfect puzzle game to introduce to people new to the genre. The vast majority of the puzzles are easy but smart, and concepts are often reminded to the player without them realizing. I believe anyone can beat this game, as long as they're interested by puzzle solving. - Several of the game's gimmick puzzles made me laugh, always a great sign of clever puzzle design. - I appreciate how the text based puzzles worked a different part of your brain, and forced you to completely understand the mechanic, not just visually. I'm glad there weren't too many, as those could get old quick. - I finally got to solve rewarding individual puzzles in the Challenge section, most of my favorites could be found there. - I'm torn between liking and disliking this part - but there was no large-scale difficulty curve. There was a small difficulty curve within each world and each world minus Challenge was the same difficulty. It's certainly interesting. - Custom level integration is simple, and provides nice bonus fun for dedicated players. - Soundtrack was nice. What I didn't like: - While I was constantly impressed by the mechanics, rarely was I impressed by individual puzzles. It felt more like being along for a ride rather than being in the driver seat yourself. All the a-ha moments were handed to you by the game. - The game could have had 10-15% fewer puzzles while still maintaining a gentle difficulty curve and exciting mechanics. I think the crumb of knowledge many levels provided was simply too small. Levels could have been merged and still accessible to puzzle game novices. - Several levels were simply tedious to solve, unfortunately. Not tedious to come up with the ideas for, but rather in the execution of the ideas. Most could be cut as they weren't necessary for teaching either. Overall Rating: 8/10 (Great)

The ability to change the game rules is really cool and it's a bit more flexible than shown here - a custom world called No Entry just came out where entering boxes is disabled but you can still exit (there was also a small one called Mind where possession came first). 25:15 the reason they are moving farther is because of the order the boxes move, before you were separating the boxes on the inside so they weren’t pushing each time I believe. It’s hard to tell since it’s so small but it’s definitely due to the order the boxes move

Of all things, this game was incredible at teaching the player, you don't get stuck not because it's 'easy' necessarily, but because the game is fantastic at teaching new mechanics and transitioning between them/combining them. It's not a hard game per se, but it is very fun and rewarding to complete the puzzles.

i was surprised there wasn't an appendix world that let you enter a block if there was a space anywhere, not just in the center

You can't. A careful eye may notice that the lack of stamps in the top-left indicates that the Appendix blocks, surprisingly, do not have their own modifier.
@pittagiiya2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I never thought about solving the push-around-void level in a way diagonally flipped to the way I did it. But of course it works... As for the self-pushing 3-patrick level, I think you had the same problem I did; you think you've aligned it correctly but actually the innermost patrick is 1 space off vertically. Also, that last level stumped me too. And I was equally upset at how "easy" the answer was.
