There was something really special about Lee Remick. But a blonde Laurence Harvey was too much.

"Experiment in Terror" is excellent. Definitely an influence on Mario Bava and the giallo thriller.

Recognised Australian actor John Meillon immediately - in the bar in Paris. I like it when I watch an old film and see someone in a minor part in their youth.

This is *a great story* - the opening scenes were a bit strange; the church, the afters in the house, and the chat; and then it got better and better.

Alan Bates used to be cast as a rather silly young man (eg this, Zorba) until they discovered his more sinister side, where he excelled.

Someone can explain to me if Alan Bates discovers the fraud or simply he is so in LOVE that he did not realize? I am spanish and don't catch what he says at the end.
@katgirlblue25 күн бұрын
He realized but covered for him. He said something like, Why should he want to hurt me? We were going on a picnic!
@mariamparogonzalez1225 күн бұрын
@katgirlblue. Yes I understand that part. Alan Bates thinks Lawrence Harvey did It because L.H. was jelaous but in fact L.H. provocs the accident because he thinks Alan Bates knows he is not dead and they are not going to pay the insurance premium and both can go to jail for the fraud. Actually L H. did'nt know Lee Remick had slept with Alan Bates. At the end Alan Bates just thinks that Lawrence Harvey was just jelaous. He pays the premium to her because Alan Bates did not discover he was disguised pretending to be another person. Otherwise he would not have paid. Isn' t It?
@katgirlblue25 күн бұрын
@mariamparogonzalez12 Alan Bates wasn't even in insurance anymore so he couldn't pay anything. He changed jobs long before this whole thing happened in Spain.

This could have been a great movie. Intriguing premise, great cast. But, alas, it was not to be. None of the characters was believable, especially Lee Remick's who was so passive it strained credulity. Perhaps if they had kept Alan Bates an insurance agent who was following his instincts on the trail of suspected fraud, they might have had something.

Then The Borgia and "Being There"... then Peter Sellers... I was thinking .....Lee Remington....... now she was better....anyway...
