They Picked the Best and Most Difficult three-piece Band to emulate. They are Very Impressive. 👍
@magiscichoam4 жыл бұрын
The best, more difficult three piece band to emulate? Get a grip. That statement is nonsense of the highest order. The music of “Rush” isn’t complicated at all. “Rush” isn’t in the same musical universe as “Cream”, “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” and “Emerson, Lake & Palmer” to name a few.
@johnstephens36384 жыл бұрын
@@magiscichoam Hundreds of cover bands out there covering Cream and Hendrix, and doing their songs justice......ELP? Who would want to ??? Rush tunes are on a completely different level and these guys nail it as close as anyone.
@thomasdaniels68244 жыл бұрын
@@magiscichoam Yeah, because Sunshine of your love is such a technical over the top song with many tempo and time changes. Cream existed for like 18 months. You're comparing cream to rush?
@magiscichoam4 жыл бұрын
Thomas Daniels Absolutely! I’m a classically trained musician. I play the drums and Violin. I can read and write both music and drum charts. I’m 67 years old. I’ve seen thousands of concerts including most, if not all, of the truly great rock, progressive rock, Jazz and Jazz Rock groups. This includes; “The Beatles”, “Cream”, “Jimi Hendrix”, “The Who”, “King Crimson”, “Led Zeppelin”, “Miles Davis”, “Pink Floyd”, “Yes”, “ELP”, “Jethro Tull”, “The James Gang”, “SuperTramp”, “Roxy Music”, “The Rolling Stones”, “The Mahavishnu Orchestra”, “Grand Funk Railroad”, “The Police”, “Sade”, “George Michael”, “Marvin Gaye”, “Steely Dan”, “The Allman Brothers”, “U2”, “Wang Chung”, “David Bowie”, “The Church”, “Wishbone Ash”, “Porcupine Tree”, “The Pineapple Thief, and many many more. There’s no comparison between “Cream” and “Rush”. I saw “Cream” live in 1967 at the Grande Ballroom and in 1968 at Olympia Stadium. Those live performances along with performances by “The Who” and “Jimi Hendrix” are the reason I started playing the Drums. I’ve seen “Rush” live several times starting in 1974 at “The Michigan Palace” in downtown Detroit. The last time I saw “Rush” live was during the “Vapor Trails” tour in 2002. I’ve been regularly listening to “Cream” especially “Disraeli Gears” and “Wheels Of Fire” for nearly 40 years. I rarely listen to “Rush”. In my opinion, “Rush” is simply not in the same league as “Cream” either creatively or musically. “Cream” was revolutionary. They fundamentally changed Rock music. “Rush” is derivative. Lee, Leifson and Peart simply lack the improvisational firepower and musical training to be realistically compared to Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton. Add the severe limitations of Lee’s vocals and you have, for me, no comparison at all. “Sunshine Of Your Love” is a blues based song (written in 1966-67) that also contains elements of hard rock, psychedelia, and pop. Jack Bruce based the song on a distinctive bass riff he developed after attending a Jimi Hendrix concert. When it was released, it was considered revolutionary and radically advanced for rock music. “Rush” routinely cites “Cream” as a major influence on its evolution. Neil Peart cites Ginger Baker as one of his biggest influences. In fact Peart once told “Rolling Stone Magazine” that “Ginger Baker’s playing was revolutionary; extrovert, primal and inventive. That every rock drummer since has been influenced in some way by Baker, even if they don’t know it.” www.britannica.com/topic/Cream-British-rock-group www.rushisaband.com/blog/2019/10/06/5345/Rush-on-the-passing-of-legendary-Cream-drummer-Ginger-Baker

John Stephens In my opinion most, if not all, of the “Cream” and “Jimi Hendrix” cover bands that I’ve seen live absolutely suck. Look at how few people are in the audience for this “Rush” cover band performance. I’m fortunate enough and old enough to have seen many of the truly great bands live including “Cream”, “Jimi Hendrix”, “The Who”, “ELP”, “King Crimson” and many many more.

I admire anyone for taking on the challenge of being a Rush tribute band, that is a mighty tough mountain to climb. So if I say they did "a pretty good job" it is _only_ a reflection of the fact that Rush had a degree of precision in their performances that put them on a different level to any other band I know of, and that their music doesn't IMO lend itself to much interpretation - it is what it is, and anything different is going to sound sloppy. These guys weren't sloppy, it was an enjoyable performance and I would _definitely_ go out of my way to see them if they ever come to NC or nearby locations in neighboring states. ETA: 7/8/2020 70,013 views (seems to be a _lot_ more than when I first saw this, just over a month ago), 2,300 likes, and 421 comments.

@@TommyLMason SC here. I got to see them in 2011 in Greensboro during their Time Machine tour before they disbanded. Really a band that's hard to find any sort of comparison for. Maybe Coheed and Cambria. This tribute band does a really good job on getting Geddy's vocals, from what I've listened to. He's incredibly difficult to emulate, and the only place where I've heard them kind of miss the mark is in some of Geddy's harder vocals in 2112. But they do an incredible job in this one, for example.

Just the amount of money they spent on equipment in order to emulate Rush is insane in and of itself. Double-necked anything is insanely expensive. THOSE double-necks even more so. Then you add in keyboards, pedals, etc...just WOW! Commitment to the craft; you just love to see it. These guys have obviously put in countless amounts of hours, blood, sweat, tears, money, research, practice, and passion into not only sounding like Rush, but almost kinda-sorta LOOKING like Rush (especially the drummer!). I never had a chance to see Rush live (something would always fall through or timing wouldn't work out), but these guys would make a perfectly acceptable substitute. These guys represent a masterclass in "student becoming teacher."

Great job... My first Rush show was A Farewell to Kings, 1977 Toronto and sad to say I've only seen them 5 other times... Been a fan since Fly By Night..

Just saw these guys last night at The River City Casino in St. Louis on 11/18/22 and if you ever have the opportunity to see this band play then you need to go... They were absolutely fantastic. They put on one of the best shows that I have seen in a long time for a tribute band. I hope you guys come back again next year or even sooner. The only downside was that the venue only let them play 90 minutes otherwise I could have watched them play all night and the audience agreed. Thanks for coming to St. Louis guys and please hurry back.
