David French, a former attorney and political commentator, joins Russell Moore to give listeners a taste of their conversations over coffee. Moore and French share similar values when it comes to having difficult conversations without animosity. As leaders with their fingers on the pulse of American society, they discuss the Christian’s role in advocating for religious liberty.
In this episode, Moore and French get to the bottom of what “David Frenchism” is. They discuss the importance of respect and decency when having differing beliefs on controversial topics. They demonstrate gracious debate, giving listeners a framework for a mature dialogue. Finally, they show how Christians can have fruitful discussions by taking on the opposing view’s side.

Who cares? Russell said at the beginning that the whole show was just about having conversations from a Christian perspective. He didn’t say it was to have a conversation about Christian related things.

This is very much a Christian conversation. Donald Trump has done more to harm conservatism and to the witness of Christ. Who would ever want to be a Christian when non Christians see them promoting Trump, who has done very little for Christianity? He makes Bill Clinton look like a saint.

I identify as a fairly liberal Christian and Democrat. But I've always looked at the vote the way David describes. I have credited both of these's men's opinion more because of their willingness to act against self-interest and call out their friends on their hypocrisy. This conversation was excellent in how they examine both their own beliefs and others with an open mind.

Time: 38:00. My thoughts. As Christian myself who is not Republican or Evangelical the Christian Right support of Trump is baffling. There are lots of us out here watching with bewilderment. To frame this a Evangelical vs liberals is too narrow. It’s evangelical vs a mass of Christians outside their tent.

It's the same as Christians who voted for either Clinton or Obama, then Biden. Same bewilderment, different cat. It's not complicated when understanding our innate temperamental differences, for starters. When was the last time we saw the Ideal running for either party, BTW? I was more interested in Tulsi or Rubio, but went with Trump. And am glad to discuss/debate with any Progressive or Liberal Christian who just "cannot fathom" why. Again, vice versa. I could just as easily judge my Brothers and Sisters who do not vote MY way. Rather boring. Very arrogant. "Divisive". ( When people obsess over Trump being divisive, I just as easily recall Hillary or Obama or Biden being deeply divisive, not uniting. And so it goes. )

@@machtnichtsseimann I cannot fathom why you would vote for such a morally depraved man as Donald Trump, I can certianly udnerstand why you would vote for Marco Rubio or Tulsi Gabbard. I would say the same thing if this were 1968, and you were supporting George Wallace.

@@machtnichtsseimann YES!! Well said. @machtnichtsseimann, let's not forget that it was the DemoRats that sought out the Satanic church to help them fight against the prolife movement. Is that the side you want to side with. All the movements of the left is anti-God, such as the wicked indoctrination of our children, forcing transgender on our culture, and pushing the alphabet peoples wicked, perverted lifestyle on our culture.

Pastors are always criticized and will be but they should preach AND live out the Gospel, not be partisan. Most times, if you are being led by the Spirit of God, you “won’t” agree with either party exactly and all the time. If you are praying for Biden and Trump, be not ashamed.

Your take might at least be fair in terms of present Christianity, then again we're talking about the greater complexity of America with its various strains and ideologies at play, pendulum swings, lies vs lies, cheap clickbait media manipulations. Answer to Your Question: When I happened across news that wasn't Prime Time about Trump, I heard and saw him acting quite "lovingly" and respectfully and articulately in a good leader kind of way. A "Christian" take on any man or woman is to strive to evaluate the good, bad and ugly. Trump wasted FAR TOO MUCH time fighting with the Media which continually mis-quoted and lied about him, hence his correcting and rebuking them. Trump went too far at times, but other times he was pushing back on sheer corruption. I'll take the bad with the good in that context about him. It needed to be done, and the Dems/Media should be held accountable for not pummeling the Media for their toxic divisiveness.

@@machtnichtsseimann Hitler was a vegetarian who wanted animals protected….but so what. He was still an evil human being that no decent person should have supported on a “values” basis. Just because Trump “acts nicely” sometimes (to his friends and allies) in ways we would normally expect from any decent person doesn’t excuse tolerating his monumental vileness that goes against every so called Christian value. Also, something to consider, the man is obviously an Atheist….ironic….what a joke. Evangelical Trump supporters are making a blatant mockery of the Christian religion. What would Jesus do? Answer that question….thank God for David French. He’s a true hero.
