Thank you to Russian Adam for making this amazing interview happen! Of course thank you for approaching this with an open mind and willing to share with me and with the audience as much as it you did. It was just as much a pleasure getting to hear you speak of your journey as it is a pleasure getting to hear you speak of War and Peace & Ottoman Empire & Oud Picante & Oud Zhen! Not to mention the amazing discussion on vintage fragrances and the wild vs. plantation oud market.
This was my favorite video by far to produce although it was also stressful because I wanted everything to be perfect... this about as close to perfect as I could ask for!

Now that’s have to do a goddam interview,fantastic Rams ,I never saw Adam so relaxed and self confidence was flowing right there , he actually I think forgot his camera shyness and just got into it , gotta tell ya think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship ( Bogart Casablanca lol). I never heard him voice any opinion or throwing shade on ,well lets call it what it is ,Shady free bottle influencers,plus so called niche fragrances disguised in fancy opulent packaging for crazy money , then him asking you why do you purchase these bottles knowing what you know to which you answered perfectly,and he got it ,because let us all be honest about our guilty pleasures ,from cheap so called junk to the fancy pants overly priced junk,but as I am always mindful of the old adage ‘’ one mans junk is another mans treasure ‘’. Really enjoyed this one R ,and of the new ventures for Adam with being an artistic director,plus the new releases in the pipeline blessings to both of you guys,onwards and upwards let’s do this Boom 💥🙏✌️

Thanks Bren I figured folks like you who have bottles from many different collections would get so much out of this ... honestly just talking to the man is a pure pleasure ... he is such a kind caring gentle soul but some of his creations are monumental and epic and loud... its like staring at a man who is staring at one of the wonders of the world .. the great pyramids for example (his Djedi story is amazing) you can see the man but then this monumental creation and what he is doing is so different and so special to what everyone else is doing you have to just stand there in awe and just watch it all unfold... marvel at u folding you know?? Well long story short I hope you guys enjoyed it and I would love to own ottoman empire and War & peace one day 😊

@@RamseytheRam so true ,he seem such a gentle soul ,which is the whole mantra of this religious beliefs,now that’s how to practice the true essence of religion regardless of which one. Now on the Bortnikoff future colab (actually relieved they are still buddies ya never hear either reference one another) this could be epic despite my wariness of his collaborations ,# will make a more open minded critique on Aquilaria Blossom for sure I’m probably just too fussy lol. But a creative director,now that’s a whole different animal yeah? I tell ya what he better not start wearing goddam L.V. Goddam slippers,or I will have to have words hahaha .cheers R, have a great day 🙏✌️

He is a true artist... everything he says and does is about the art... we get into it further in the last 30 or 40 minutes of the video when we compare his style of "all honest and constructive critisism is the best and most helpful thing a true artist can hear" to other brands "if you say anything bad about us you are cut off from our free bottles!".. Stark difference between the two ideologies 🙏

So proud of our русский Адам. Thanks so much for this interview. I actually talked to his staff member on Telegram in one Russian perfume community just yesterday. I feel like going to Indonesia and learn everything about perfumes. He is so inspiring and I had no clue he lived in down under. I am a Russian born kiwi. You know that Xerjoff was inspired by Red Moscow as well. It actually smells totally different in Aotearoa or 🇦🇺 as it's humid and warm, but my Pikovaya Dama smells similar to Red Moscow in the Urals, colder climate, but just a bit softer. 1:41:33

Wow! Quality viewing, a joy to watch. Just like any perfume lover being asked just one question, replying and then 5mins has just gone by! Adam is such a humble guy, to know he is at the helm at ALD satisfies my curiosity to explore this house. As you know Ramsey my time in the Middle East I was exposed to the fragrances out there but wouldn't know where to start. Was always told how expensive they were and for such a tiny amount it just didn't equate as a viable purchase. Nowadays there's Oud this and that available but I wasn't buying it, they don't come close to anything I had smelled as real Oud. Also I was put off delving in as from experience s it doesn't always smell that great and can be overpowering which is not my thing (Jam). From this and understanding Adam a little better I now want to try and follow this house... availability permitting. Thanks for asking my question, I love that perfume organ, it looks antique. I understand why he had it made there, the craftsmanship and quality of woods in Indonesia is top notch. On my travels there I bought some furniture and had it shipped to my home, I still have the pieces, in fact I'm sitting next to one of them now (Ebony wood Table). I hope we can do this again, I'd love to listen to Adam go through the samples he sent you. I just love that he said YOU have inspired him, that was a lovely moment. I think the two of you could come up with a great fragrance...maybe you could hit him up with that idea you had from Midnight in Paris....... Texas, London, Jakarta, Kyoto etc etc. Thanks to you both for taking the time, repeat viewing a must! Much Love.

Boy, the way Russian Adam looked at your vintage bottle of Heritage, admiration. I never released how much I would love Habit Rouge and Heritage until I put some on. I have to thank Pep from The Scentinal for recommending them on his channel. He also talked about Guerlain's Vetiver, and I'm glad I got a tester of it. Got it for, yup, 17. You're right Russian Adam. the amount for Heritage is very much in our favor. Gonna check right now and see if my Habit Rouge is edt or edp. It's the edt. I picked up the gift set. I have Guerlain's L'homme in edp as a gift set too. I think the Heritage is the edp also. I can't pull that one out right now. It's like the 8th box down in the back row of the perfume collection. I will check though. I'm thinking of getting backup bottles of these just because of the price to quality ratio. Going to have to get a backup of Guerlain's Vetiver too. Why? I'm putting a huge dent in the one I have. Going to finish the interview tonight. Thank you Russian Adam for coming on, and thank you Ramsey for having him.

Yeah thats a tough one ... Russian Adam told me Kinam is so expensive that most perfumes that say Kinam actually dont use Kinam ... they just create a fragrance that smells like their interpretation of kinam... he said it would cost like half a million dollars to distill a few kilos of kinam... so no one has done it so far is what he told me... but that will change soon... honestly kinam is not my favorite as i like my ouds more barnyard and animalic and kinam is softer with this honey like relaxing almost a put you at ease smell

@@RamseytheRam speaking of barnyard, I know u said u haven’t tried Alexandria by Xerjoff, and that one is smoother than it is barnyard anyway. Alexandria II/III is my favorite professional OUD perfume that I’ve tried so far. But I haven’t tried Adam’s nor anyone’s like that yet, but I’m very curious what you would think of Al-Khatt by Xerjoff. It is the most barnyard I’ve smelled in a professional perfume. It has jasmine in it as well, but all I smell is my relatives’ dairy cow barn. Now I will say that dairy barns are very very clean, but just one walk through one, and your clothes will smell just like Al-Khatt until washed with some strong detergent. As farmers, we laugh and wonder why ppl would want to smell that way. But myself, I like it for the memories.

@@RamseytheRam I’m floored. This is my 2nd time viewing this video. Russian Adam is a gift to the world (and the world of perfume). ❤️❤️Ramsey, what an amazing interview. 👏👏 Floored. You & Russian Adam should do this again, such a natural conversation. ❤️❤️🙏
@RachelKNg

Russian Adam is correct about Chantille, etc. That time in perfumery was all about establishing & refining genres (making lots & lots of Shalimars & Mitsukos, etc.). The “classical” era. Scented Devil has a great video about this!

Why would we buy Areej Le Dore?!?!? Does Russian Adam even understand how brilliant he is? There are no perfumes like ALD. He is inventing the future.
@RachelKNg
@RachelKNg 2 жыл бұрын
I now have a new question for Russian Adam: would he ever consider studying French perfumery himself? Using contemporary aroma chemicals himself? I’m not saying that’s a good or bad thing, just curious if he has placed any “boundaries” to his art?
