Early umbrellas, or as they were known parasols, were designed by the Egyptians around 1000 B.C. The first models were made from feathers or lotus leaves, attached to a stick, and were used to offer shade to the nobility

I recognize that book held upside down: The Elements of Style! 😁 This video’s brilliant in specifying the factors that put us in a rut. When we say we “feel down or sad for no reason,” maybe we have yet to identify what led us to that rut. I found mindless scrolling on social media vacuums time and energy, same with staying in bed longer that would derail me from my schedule. Also important to remember is motivation won’t magically fall on our lap. We feel better when we act differently-not that we will act differently if we feel better.

I always thought of my ruts as a separate entity deriving from my exhausted state, tempting my entire focus to shift from extreme concentration to hazy sleepiness that lasts hours, even days. Even when I study, even when I rest, the opposing guilt-driven anxiety is there. It's a normal human thing to experience and it seems to work in pretty simple ways, but it's not easy to evade. I mostly just take an extremely long nap and start studying again after I wake up. Seems to always work like a charm.
