Wonderful, that's what you call a model railway. That Signalman must have had a very busy day. The most fun middle-aged men can have without alcohol! :-) 5*

heh, this stirs my memory of a place I saw as a young child. on holiday up north over 15 years ago. i remember passing it briefly and looking through the gates in amazement at the complexity of the tracks inside. never saw it again, never even thought of it again til I stumbled on this video. come to think I'm sure this is the place. how very stirring.

The development of the different gauges is interesting. Even in the US we have 7 & 1/4" and 7 & 1/2 depending upon the location in the country. With the advent of Li chemistry batteries, the electric motive power has become more popular in some regions.

Yes it really is a wonderful set up. The Locomotives and rolling stock are really beautifully built. Everything is worked much as a 'Proper' railway would be,and everyone enjoys themselves. A great day.

lot more so called diesels there now than when I was there in 2000. Had more fun at Gillings East than train mountain in US. Great to see.

It is good you also have the 7&1/4" gauge. The 5" are a bit small. With some of the gents driving, it was had to see the equipment for the overhang. LOL

NOOB question,, are the Diesel locomotives electrically powered by battery, or do they have internal combustion engines?
@mollsmyre8 жыл бұрын
+beardo52 You got me on that one I would assume they are powered by battery. Sorry I cant be more helpful.
@beardo528 жыл бұрын
Thank you all the same ! I appreciate it.
@KR15MES8 жыл бұрын
they're battery powered
@markturner42196 жыл бұрын
some are battery powered and some are proper diesel electrics - eg internal combustion engine driving generator to supply electricity to electric traction motors; although usually something more akin to a lawn mower engine rather than a diesel engine.
@leedorrington87555 жыл бұрын
They will usually be batteries with electric motors plus sound and smoke units sometimes. You have to be very clever to put a internal combustion engine at 5"G it can be done there is a scale Deltic diesel loco with two scale deltic engines in the national railway museum. It even runs although the builder didn't quite manage to sort out the cooling for the engines properly so they over heat...
