Picked up this Ryobi 40v chainsaw for future camping trips. Let’s try it out and see how it handles chopping up some wood!

They always test, mainly to let them cool down before charging.

still have to have fuel to run the generator to recharge the battery... seems a gas powered saw would be the way to go?

Yes if you were going to do a lot of work. However it was perfect for my camp trip. We were able to cut up two small trees which gave us more than enough wood for a night.

Can't beat a gas saw if you plan on doing a lot of cutting, like a pro needs. But for a person who doesn't do a lot of cutting it is great. You don't have to carry gas and oil to mix and you don't have to worry about fumes, another thing is that you don't have to worry about is pull starting and tune up's or fouled plugs. A good solar generator will allow you to charge with out a gas generator and keeping gas inside the car. Keep a few batteries around and if you play it right you can get other tools that use the same batteries. But the best thing I like is that it makes less noise, not alerting people to what you are doing. Everyone knows what a chainsaw sounds like. Ryobi brush less 18"saw has a higher chain speed than others and cuts fast. Electric doesn't fix all the issues but they do have there place.
