The S2 McCarty 594 is a versatile, vintage-inspired instrument that delivers both humbucking and single-coil tones in a modern, reliable package. Featuring a bound 22-fret Pattern Vintage neck and slightly thicker back for more sustain, the S2 McCarty 594 feels and sounds like a guitar you’ve been playing forever. A zinc two-piece bridge and vintage-style tuners anchor this guitar and stay true to the promise of the McCarty family.
Loaded with Maryland, USA-made 58/15 LT pickups, the S2 McCarty 594 has a warm, vintage-inspired tone. Whether you are looking for authentic humbucking tones or nuanced, sweet single-coil sounds, the S2 McCarty 594 can seamlessly master both sonic territories thanks to both the pickups and dual volume and push/pull tone control layout. Designed to capture the heart of the McCarty family of instruments and stay true to the S2 Series spirit, the S2 McCarty 594 is a guitar your arsenal deserves.
After ten years, the PRS S2 Series is being updated with USA-made pickup and electronics for 2024 (and beyond). We are proud to bring this added value to what has become a fully integrated part of our manufacturing line and product offering. We have also updated our Vintage-Style tuners to include a new “Wing” button.
While, aesthetically, these new buttons are designed to echo the 12th fret bird wingspan design, they were first and foremost designed for tonal reasons. Because these buttons are lighter weight than their metal predecessors, they subtract less energy from the vibrating strings, thus helping the guitar ring longer and at a more musical note. The removal of the tuner’s locking feature on non-tremolo-equipped guitars further decreases their weight.

I own a 594 single cut se black gold burst because of your demos on the guitar and I have to say that I really love it. I always come back to your demos, you do such a great and humble job, genuinely engrossed in your work with strings , keep on playing. Thanks so much sir!

I knew something was up when I heard Music Force demo this guitar line. I thought to myself “Man, those pickups sound amazing. They dialed in those import pickups pretty damn good”. Lo and behold, the USA pickups are now standard for the S2 line. Astonishing PRS, y’all really knocked it out of the park with this!

Been wanting a McCarty since I saw a Santana yellow DC McCarty a few years ago that I could not (and still can't) afford. So, I set out to get as close as I can to one (before the McCarty SE line came out) using the blue ZM SE as my platform. Started with adding push/pull tone pots, white PRS vintage locking tuners (100 USD), white pickup rings and 85/15 + HFS pups (200 USD). Later I replaced the pickups to 59/15 LTs (got them new for 330 USD) when PRS sold them separately. Then just yesterday I had the electronics replaced with McCarty drop-ins (100 USD) because the volume pots started to make noise and contact cleaners were no longer sufficient. The guitar now costs twice as much as when I bought it but still cheaper than getting an S2. Plus, it's not something you can get off the shelf. It's like a semi-hollow McCarty SE with a satin neck (which I prefer). It's the best guitar I ever owned and will be my last one if I only had one guitar. Maybe in the future PRS will make semi-hollow McCarty SEs. ;)

I have a 10th Anniversary S2, which also has these USA pickups, and they're really nice. Warm and fuzzy feelings when playing. I just wish the top on mine was as active as the one in the demo. So many dead spots where there's no real flame figuring.

I love the electronics and hardtail of a McCarty and the wide thin neck of a 24. Any chance of them having a baby? I would love a 594 with a wide thin neck.

How about routing out those hideous looking back cover plates. Can it really cost that much to use add this step to the CNC machine program?

Again what pickups were they using before? With these prices they should be using USA pickups. Also what’s the difference between core and s2?
@mattc2674
@mattc2674 2 ай бұрын
They used to have the same import pickups as in the SE line. And construction wise they differ from Core in a couple ways: The top carve is a little more shallow, so the maple cap isn't as thick. The neck construction is scarfed instead of one-piece (though still set neck). That's really it - with this update I think they're a lot more competitive. I agree the switch to the USA made electronics is a long time coming.

I’m a massive 594 fan, I have a wood library and love it. However, please please be careful with your terminology… a coil split coil tap are two different things and you’re not really telling us whether they’re single coils, i.e. split, or a coil tap as in tapped. Very different sounds in my opinion.
@shanetx81
@shanetx81 2 ай бұрын
This is a bit distressing. As far as I know, the only actual tap they do is on the 58/15mt which are extremely uncommon. This sounds more like the normal partial split (with resisters on the dumped coil-to-ground putting some of its signal back in to keep volume from dropping off completely) that they do everywhere else. The documentation on the website even says tapped now.

@@shanetx81 the old custom 22s and 24s are all coil taps. Not sure if they still are (22s are now discontinued). I have had a custom 22 for over 20 yrs and it’s definitely a tap, a reduction in coils not a split which is a single coil. I’m not an expert (anyone feel free to correct), but, they are different and sound very different.

@@MintyBitesBack I don’t know how old you’re talking but for the last few years the custom 24s are partial splits.

My custom 22 is from 1996. Practically vintage! 😂 Definitely a tap though. Sounds completely different to the 594 split which sounds much more like a single.
