I think Dolph Ziggler is a classic example of really really bad booking. This dude should have been a huge huge superstar in the WWE the way they've treated him over the years you would have never guessed he was a two-time world champion. I think the peak of his status was clearly when he was paired up with AJ and a very young Big E There's only two feuds I remember during his whole entire time one was the one with The Miz. @TophDaGreat10 ай бұрын
Read an article from a site years ago. Unsure how true it was. The article stated when Ziggler cashed in it was not a push for him but rather what needed to happen to continue the story forward. It confused me reading it. Why give him the belt if you had no plans to push him? The powers that be (Vince) didn't see "it" in Ziggler so creative stopped caring. Ziggler realized this himself and basically became content with a paycheck and he stopped caring. We (the fans) could see his indifference and thus we stopped caring too.
@ECB200010 ай бұрын
I'd believe that. They definitely did in later years. You could tell by how little he gave a shit. His promos by the end ended up being "Look, ya'll, I know I'm good and so do you, but management doesn't see it that way, so I'm gonna give you the best matches I possibly can, regardless of what they think." You could just tell he knew he'd hit a ceiling with them. Hopefully, he can come back at some point down the road. I feel like HHH would use him far better than Vince did.
@flyguy782510 ай бұрын
Well clearly that was the case because the dude lost the title. I think two or three weeks later. If you didn't know it or didn't see it, you would have never guessed. This dude was a two-time world champion
@ECB200010 ай бұрын
@@flyguy7825 I mean, the double turn got him more over as a babyface, but he got nothing after that. He lost the rematch and his push just evaporated. He was still over, but then he started losing constantly and people eventually gave up, and so did he. I don't think they ever planned on pushing him, he was just a cog in the wheel of a bigger story. With Vince running creative, that was business as usual, sadly.
@TophDaGreat10 ай бұрын
Agreed. The death nail imo came a little bit later. Remember Team Cena vs Team Authority? Ziggler was the sole survivor. Sting debuted to make the save but when you look back Rollins had finished up his feud with Ambrose and had begun a new feud with Roman. I think Roman got hurt or sick or something. Next thing you know Ziggler is added to Team Cena despite him not having any interaction with them at all. I think the spot Ziggler got was meant for Roman. He would have been sole survivor. This would have made his Rumble win make a little more sense but they gave it to Ziggler instead. Problem was, Ziggler was still over and fans thought it was gonna be a renewed push, but it wasn't. Fizzled out.@@ECB2000

#1 He never should have won the NXT Championship. The fact that he did baffles me it doesn't make any sense. He was never on NXT before (at least not when it was an actual wrestling show) and there were better options that are still down in NXT. It also haulted Bron Breakker's momentum for no reason other than to tell The Steiner Brothers "FU" one last time. #2 Dolph Ziggler was dependable but never given the chance to truly be a top star, despite winning the MITB briefcase and World Heavyweight Championship due to an unfortunate concussion, but at least he kept the title for another month. He also was technically responsible for The Authority since he was not only the sole survivor at Survivor Series in 2014, but also eliminated Seth Rollins thanks to Sting and they did nothing with him after that when he should have been pushed more in 2015, especially after Seth Rollins became WWE World Heavyweight Champion. But instead he went back to the midcard, had a great feud with The Miz, and started putting younger talent over such as Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura. #3 IMO he's decline started when he won the US Championship only to vacate it and it was never brought up again. He's partner ship with Drew McIntyre/Bobby Roode was okay but all three of them arguably deserved better than a couple of tag team reigns.
