Just used this quote elsewhere this morning by Yuri Bezmenov, explaining/predicting the ideological subversion that the US would go through - “As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore,” said Bezmenov. “A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures; even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him [a] concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it, until he [receives] a kick in his fan-bottom. When a military boot crashes his balls then he will understand. But not before that. That’s the [tragedy] of the situation of demoralization.”

We can't live in a world where you also have to prostrate and humiliate yourself for changing your opinion and admitting you were wrong. We do in fact occasionally live in this world and it's part of the reason why Politicians never change their mind, because if they do they are called "u-turners" when most of the time the data changed and thus their views did.

The Solzhenitsyn quote/saying Benjamin is referring to is in _The Gulag Archipelago_ where he talks about how the Gulags would eventually once in a while get a legitimate pro-Communist believer (a legitimate ideologue). All the prisoners knew there was no changing and helping these particular prisoners until they felt the boot of the very Authoritarianism they believed in step on their neck hard. You can give them rational arguments, you can show them objective horrible examples; it didn't matter. Until they legitimately felt the very oppression they supported themselves, they'd always have a ridicuous excuse to protect their ego and brainwashing. That's basically what Bejamin and Solzhenitsyn are saying: you can't change these people no matter what untill they feel the wrath of the logical conclusions of their own ideologue beliefs (the power of brainwashing is that strong).

I like to point out that the top communists are no different than the top capitalists: They're running businesses, and are only in it for themselves. Play write, director, screen writer David Mamet, wrote a book about his conversion from "liberal" to conservative. He titled the book, "The Secret Knowledge". I bought the book mostly to understand the context because that can be interpreted several ways. In a nutshell, Mamet explained why liberals see themselves as superior to, well, everything and everyone else. As Mamet put it, leftist are taught (by other leftist) that they are "imbibed with a secret knowledge that they, and only they, are privy to". The sub-title. "The struggle of the Left to rationalize its position is an intolerable Sisyphean burden. I speak as a reformed liberal."

The guest mentions something about her possibly having been attacked by a homeless person and speculates about the Lefty trans mentality impinging on her own identity as a woman. Personally, I think a lot of women are wrestling with the trans issue: there is no definition of "woman" to the Democrats. The issue which has been known as "Women's Rights" for decades, if not centuries, has now been cast away. Some women are listening to things like Riley Gaines' story about having a man in the locker room with them (cock hanging out), and then getting their brains beat in in athletics and wondering if they are supporting the right side.

AFAIK it started when she was sexually assaulted by a hobo (I believe in LA). After talking about it publicly, she was dog-piled by her own side -- anyone who notices all the crime is trafficking in "right wing talking points" and "racist dog whistles" and the rest of it. (because if you admit the crime is a problem, that directly impugns democrat policies. So SOP is "pretend crime isn't happening" and apparently she didn't get the memo.) A few similar instances after that where she unwittingly walked into a woke minefield by stating absolutely normal, uncontroversial opinions. Basically the left has gotten so radical that even people like her are not radical enough. So the same process that has driven most normal people over to the other side is now continuing. The left is eating itself.

I think part of it is if you've been in a bad place (i.e. ideology) for a LONG TIME and come out of it - or are on the verge of coming out it - you have to face the conclusion: I supported the enemy, I was wrong, I've endorsed bad things, I was brainwashed, I was a pawn, the friends I pushed away were right, I wasted my life. Who wants to be wrong? Who wants to say they wasted years of their life? That's hard. Its like folks who are in a religious cult. Many stay cause its easier than leaving, and they actively make sure to keep the brainwashing up to not let the voice in the back of their head get through.

You forgot 2019 my friend which was the tipping point for a mass rejection of Socialism in Britain. It’s blatantly clear that Socialism on the ballot nationally won’t win. Look at the Red Wall for example. They have no doubt changed their views over time, hence why it has trended massively to the right since the mid 2000’s, but the radical left made there own voters run away from them. Even today the Labour Party have offered no incentive to vote for them, which is ridiculous. I’m no political PHD wonk, but the Labour Party just need one thing to go against them and they lose. Plus I must mention how hated the Labour brand has become in my home of Bishop Auckland and other old school red places. Speaking of Labour here today is like referring to the devil even among the most die hard people. I don’t think they realise how hated they are now among there old voting base when they adopt radical urban policies that are despised by everybody else.

Ana was already experiencing levels of burnout and disillusionment that I thought would've resulted in her resigning from TYT or at least taking a hiatus, and I've even heard that sometimes she has to drink to get through the day; my bet is the only reason she's stayed is because she's very loyal and she's the kind of person who'd think they were letting other people down if she left, and that makes her feel ashamed. Also, my guess is that Cenk's done everything he can to try and keep her in the fold, because he knows the show is doomed without her, and he doesn't REALLY care about her if she's not useful to him. He's probably given her a ton of false encouragement to his Armenian Shield. Eventually though, Ana is going to be put into a moment of crisis, ironically by a situation a leftist will put her in, where she's going to have to make a choice of either going with her career at TYT and keeping her head down on bended knee to leftist ideology, or she's going to have to stand by her principles and leave to find something else. It's only a question of time until she leaves, but the question is how long that'll be.

Found myself reflecting on why (faithful) Christians, and maybe (faithful) members of certain other religions too, may have an easier time waking up to the reality that we've been part of the problem and turning around and doing better: that's already baked into our belief system. We are sinners. We (especially Christians and especially those who belong to traditions that practice sacramental Confession, i.e. Catholic or Eastern Orthodox) literally, verbally confess our sins to a priest after we commit them. We *know* and *admit* that we're often part of the problem and we need to repent and do better. Maybe it's harder for an atheist who doesn't believe in a forgiving God, and only believes in some unforgiving notion of being judged by 'history' (and never forgiven, like they currently talk as if people from the past are unforgiveable). Reminds me of that notion: The devil tells you sin is no big deal, and then as soon as you sin he tells you it's too late now and you can never be forgiven, and should despair. God tells you that sin is a big deal, and then when you sin he tells you he forgives you and to return to him. Cultural leftism is currently very devilish in this sense. Lures people into ABHORRENT, evil behaviour (child killing, child mutilating, mob 'justice', reputation destruction), then tells them they can never be forgiven if those things turned out to be wrong so they just have to double down. May each be found by God, and receive him and the joy he offers.

I think the problem lies with the belief that one must identify and attach oneself to being Left-wing or Right-wing. In doing so and not wanting to be ostracized from the group, one slavishly follows the group-think of that particular wing. Whatever it is one perceives that wing an individual is expected to follow. The position and ideology of both these wings has evolved over the years and if one considered himself to have belonged to Left-wing ideology say 20 or 30 years ago and did not move from that position, he/she would be considered belonging to the Right-wing today. This freedom of the individual morality which emanates from both Left and Right (the right to bear arms is an example from the Right) will continue to be pushed by various groups until there are no boundaries left and being critical of any group will be criminalized. A court in Switzerland sentenced a writer and commentator to 60 days in jail for calling a journalist a “fat lesbian,” and the decision is being lauded by LGBTQ+ groups.

The reality is, many of today's "conservatives" are really classic liberals. And today's "liberals" are just counter-culturalists who follow authoritarians. Case in point, they keep pushing further left because as they gain ground, their counter-culturalist ideology forces them to move on. The more they see their cutting edge ideas become supported in the media, the more they have to find new cutting edge ideas. I feel a bit sorry for them. Their gaming culture compulsively, and they don't know why. Social media only feeds that need and desire to be on the bleeding edge. Most of them seem to be white kids from wealthier classes. They're bored. They're not challenged by life. So they're pushing boundaries. I believe that most of them are doing this stuff as a great big troll. But they get sucked in such that they can't stop. I noticed Ana has gone from Cenk "Yes Girl" to openly arguing with him and appearing with Ben Shapiro. That is not to say she is going to have a slot on the Daily Wire anytime soon, but she has come to realize at some point these ideas from the academy will sooner or later careen over the cliff, she is seeing this play out in CA and is trying to hit the brakes. Perhaps she will continue her journey toward a better understanding of the world. hope she does. Dave, I don't know if you will see this, but one of the issues of being 70 years old is that I have seen and heard things that have been forgotten or suppressed from the past. In the 70's there was a study that talked to a lot of people and their results found that in our personal views we were mostly liberal with things like gay, sex, race and things of that type. Also we tended to support and try to uplift the down trodden and not look down on them. But when it came to politics we were on the conservative side of the ledger. I have never left that balance and I don't see those things in people, but I have gone farther to the right due to the left. I was married for 30+ years and have 4 kids from that marriage, but now I am remarried to a trans-girl and have no issue in any of this. I still don't see those things, but I see issues with bad people that happen to be gay, black or something else and hold that against them not all. Take care of you babies and spend as much time with them as you can because the teen years are just around the corner and they will have their own lives to live then and you and David will be less of a part of their lives.
