IMHO Cybill Shepherd was great in Moonlighting. She wasn't exactly Oscar caliber in her early acting career, she was ok in Taxi Driver, but she became much better later on. No matter what, she always was stunningly beautiful. Only natural that guys were drooling all over her.
@lavanderwilliams7943 жыл бұрын
Her biggest mistake was having her pregnancy, birth, and another potential father put into the storyline on Moonlighting. That's what tanked the show into the cellar. She would've done much better covering it up, like the woman who plays Burgess on Chicago PD. ( Guys don't want to be oogling damaged goods on a show)
@truefilm69913 жыл бұрын
@@lavanderwilliams794 that is correct. As harsh as it may sound, you summed it up perfectly. For us as the audience it's already enough to know we are looking at what we will never have. No need rubbing our noses in details.

@Rose I'm never thinking something as shallow as "ooh, she's not a teen virgin so she's damaged goods," when I look at, or think of my wife. I didn't see the multiple women with any children whom I dated before meeting the woman who is now my wife. Becoming a mother is part of the biology of human beings, oh, and survival of the species. Is it the chlid, or is it just that a woman has had sex prior to this type of "man" and he's just that concerned about his inadequacy, whether that's physically not measuring up, or fearing (or knowing);that he's a lousy lover, not a generous lover, or only understands being a selfish lover because someone (like in a church) taught him that sex is about man's pleasure and women's servitude (THAT is sad!!!). I know a couple guys who were like that, and apparently my wife, talking with their wives.... ... suddenly, a week later, I'm being asked "how do you please a woman?" and , "has ANY woman EVER been pleased?" (my wife, totally not in the kitchen eavesdropping, shouts, "YES! YES! And you both have beautiful wives who deserve to FEEL LIKE A WOMAN once in a while!"). They BOTH were saying that "damaged" shit, thinking that the woman won't ever feel anything after giving birth. My wife laughed and went for a walk. I provided them with lessons on female anatomy and physiology, how men and women can have different needs, different desires, but sometimes you're both just wanting the basal acts of humans being, and just get to it NOW! And that as a man, no you don't need to be a mind reader, but YES you DO have to pay attention to your wife a learn what her signals are, and some men are lucky to have a wife that is open about wants, needs, desires, and the sets of signals she has... ...and do not expect to understand, you DON'T NEED TO, you just need to listen. She is with you, so, unless she's just a horrible person, she wants you to succeed in this area... ...and that area... ...so be a man and give your woman a reason to SMILE... It's about three years later now. I NEVER hear "damaged" or "nag" or "bitchy." And both have a second child and one is pregnant with a third. Not damaged. Oh, and as baby something you will never have, don't be so sure, in my single days I was with plenty of dancers, strippers, stage actresses, two that were on TV, and three women that played professional or Olympic sports (a GYMNAST!!!!!!)

I just finished reading her book from a few years ago "Cybill Disobedience". She is very honest in her book. She really lived life impulsive and passionate. She was a real beauty. Hard to be that pretty and not give in to temptation. She describes herself as a big brassy blonde. Seems to be a good mother. Bogdanovich might have been the love of her life but she was overwhelmed by her own passionate nature. There you go. Enjoyed your bio on youtube.

Great job, and was wondering where she went! Cybil is only a couple of years younger than I am so I've been following her life and career ever since the 1960s! Since I worked as a fashion illustrator in NYC in the late 1960s through the 1970s before I got married and had three daughters, I remember buying Glamour magazine with her on the cover and bought that mag well into my 40s. I am a big fan of hers. Loved both her t.v. shows. Christine Baranski was a riot as Cybill’s alchy friend Marianne, and I thought both of the young actors who played her daughters, one of whom is Michelle Pfeiffer’s sister DeeDee, were excellent, too. It’s a shame that show didn’t go on longer. I suspect a lot of why we don’t see her regularly anymore is the reason we don’t see most female actors as they age…sexism and ageism in Hollywood. I just hope she finds satisfaction in being a mom. And, wow, her oldest daughter Clementine looks so much like her!

Given my age, I didn't come to know about Cybill Shepherd until the TV show Moonlighting hit the air. She was just so beautiful...obviously she was my initial draw to that program. The comedic timing and chemistry between Shepherd and Willis made that show a huge success...until she was no longer the perceived Star. Too bad. Obviously, Bruce Willis came out the clear winner based on his enduring success. I later watched her self titled show...that show led to me to learn of the talent of Christine Baranski...that show was very well written. With the drama (either real or made-up) that followed Ms Shepherd;s career, it was no longer enjoyable to watch her "in the moment"...just too much bad PR. The last time I saw her was for the roast of Bruce Willis...she appeared very, very awkward on that special. Again...I thought she was very, very talented and remarkably beautiful...like most things over time, she just fell out of favor. I certainly wish her well in her retirement.
@lavanderwilliams7943 жыл бұрын
Her biggest failure on Moonlighting was putting her pregnancy in the storyline, as well as having some other guy ( Mark Harmon) stuck into the fray as another potential father. That made for too much drama, to the point of the comedic part of the show diminished to nothing.
