If Young had an ounce of ability at the NFL level it'd have shined through somewhere. History has gotten re written now, but after that years draft it was CJ Stroud everyone was saying was going to the worst situation, 3-13 roster, worst ranked WR corp (yep 32nd before the season started), O line ranked in the low 20s, unknown OC and a defensive head coach, CJ was doomed supposedly. While Young was said to be going to a decent situation, 7-10 team that had a new all pro coaching staff with offensive head coach Frank Riech and QB coach Josh McCown and sure handed vet WR in Theilen.
@darthsilversith667Ай бұрын
I always suspected Young was highly overrated. He was just an ok “system QB” that could only do well on a stacked team that was geared around making him shine. You need a lot more athletic ability to be a system QB in the NFL though and he doesn’t have the ability to make a mediocre team a contender like Stroud. Just my opinion 🤷🏻♂️

Everyone who follows OSU knew CJ was very different compared to the other qbs that started at osu. A lot of ppl actually expected Jack Miller or Kyle McCord (a high-profile 5 star at the time) to take the realm during the preseason, and not too many in columbus even knew who CJ was. And once he started, everyone knew his skillsets were vastly different from those of previous osu starters where their dual-threat (excluding Haskins) was key. His pocket presence was something else even from his first start against minnesota. A lot of people assumed his ball placement just looked good because of how talented the wr core was, but he proved time and time again that that wasnt the case.

If you just watch the NFL you’d know Bryce wasn’t made for the league. CJ was physically the prototype. Great arm talent, accuracy, his only knock was being an Ohio State QB. Bryce is small, average arm talent, scrawny build. The NFL exposes guys that hit their ceilings. Mac Jones had a weak arm by nfl standards and he was exposed by the end of his rookie year. Good video dude.

A QB that is a star from day one in the NFL is the outlier. Most QB's take years to develop consistency. And not all teams are prepared to invest adequately in such development. Sometimes it is a matter of luck for these young men. Would Mahomes be exactly the same without Reid? It's arguable.

If the Raiders can’t get ward or Sanders ,Draft Tetairoa McMillan in the first round. Trade for Bryce Young . I understand he’s looking bad but hey we have to try something ,add Tee Higgins in free agency. McMillan ,Brock Bowers and Tee Higgins and a decent RB later in the daft or free agency will work for me . This will give Young a fresh start and some young fire power

@19EHFАй бұрын
No support. You clearly made this before the Raiders game Andy Dalton a journeyman back up with that same group of people around him through for 300 yards and three touchdowns so yes Bryce Young was the problem. It’s not always on the organization.
@catdude5567Ай бұрын
I said the day Bryce was drafted that would be a bust. His height would work against him day one. He needed strength and to be fast like Kyler Murray, to overcome his height. I made multiple posts suggesting the Panthers sit him for two years and let the trainers build him up. The very same crowd making excuses for Bryce, were the same people against my idea. They said he has to play the game to learn. Those people believe the hype job about Bryce being NFL ready. He wasn't rdy then nor now. And what boggles my mind is how he got to the NFL being slow and weak arm, in the first place. That's all on Bryce. From school through college, did he think he didn't need to? It will take 3 to 4 years of him building himself up, to get him being a decent backup QB. By then, you'll have 3 to 4 years of QBs coming into the NFL. Making it in the NFL starts way back in school. He didn't do it.

Anthony Richardson, the scouts have been right so far. Russell Wilson, career retrospective (college to NFL)
@thatonewriter8043Ай бұрын
@@nathanielperryii296 The scouts didn't have a consensus. There were well-informed arguments, backed by film and other players' career arcs, both for and against Richardson, as there pretty much are for any QB (apart from *maybe* the "generational" prospects that you'll really only hear contrarians argue against). What you mean is that internet commenters doubted he'd succeed, which... yeah, they do that for every prospect. At this point in his career, most people were still racing to label Josh Allen a bust. It's a great way to look smart, because only around 30% of first round QBs "hit", depending if you define that as making a second contract with the team (more like 20%), guys who became a starter anywhere (like Brees being so much better in New Orleans than he ever was in San Diego), or guys like Wentz who have a ring but just do not look good anymore. That means if you shout loud enough, you can claim you're right about literally every QB that isn't either setting records as a rookie or winning playoff games on his rookie contract. (And then some of those successes are later picks like Russell Wilson or Brock Purdy, who "nobody" expected to do so well, so actually, that's just a fluke thing and you're still not wrong.) It's not brave, insightful, or any sort of credit to claim a developmental prospect probably isn't going to work out. It's just simple probability. You have to bring more than that.

@SomajDaGoatАй бұрын
His game doesn’t translate to the NFL. He was good at off script plays. When the play breaks down he was one of the best at finding WRs downfield or running for a big gain. The problem is in the NFL even the Defensive Lineman are more athletic than Bryce. Strouds best attributes are Accuracy and Ball placement. Those two things easily translates to the NFL and that’s why he became so good so fast.
@thatonewriter8043Ай бұрын
@@SomajDaGoat It also helps when your team is half NFL-ready talents and even the other SEC schools are basically coaches that have failed upward time and time again, leading a squad that maybe has five future draft picks.
