You refer to yourself as a true fan but by my definition you are a "fanboy" and if you find this rude so be it. You have a decent grasp of what's going on but then you say that you'll buy the next game anyway even though we know it's going to be the same character designs slightly morphed for the new gen (see main character from XY, Sun and Moon and Sword Shield, see Hop and Hau) the same kindergarden linear map design with no exploration or mystery aspect plus the game holding your hand from start to finish. No post game, hell not even a full pokedex (can't believe I'm saying this) I could go on. How do you expect any significant change? Kids and newcomers will always come in a new franchise and that's what they're basing their business for here us OGs are just extras at this point. If even a majority of such fans that feel like this buy the games ANYWAY then how can I even blame the company's short sighted outlook on this?

The mainline games will never change, they’ll always be shallow, easy and painfully mediocre because the fanboys will always buy them no matter what. I’ve been playing these games for over 15 years, I’m 21 years old, these games were my childhood, my middle school and high school life. I stood their in middle school and defended Gen 5 and got bullied for enjoying not just Gen 5, but just for playing the games in general. I LOVE these games, so so much, they’ve shaped me to who I am today, and they’re the reason I love video games as a whole. I had slowly become more dissatisfied with the games since Gen 6, and after Ultra SuMo, I told myself one more fuck up, then I’m done with this franchise. Sw/Sh trailers come out, so far, I’m excited, I have hope. Then comes the controversy’s, and then comes the leaks... it doesn’t look great, but I remain optimistic. I play them, they are the worst Pokémon games, hell, even the worst games in general I’ve ever played... I honestly had become slightly depressed over the state of my childhood game. What was once something I loved and defended was now something that left me dissatisfied and more critical of the franchise then I had ever been. I decided that I was done with this franchise, and I’m no longer going to buy something that just makes me feel dissatisfied and I hoped that other people saw the disappointment Pokémon had become and would do the same, and fight for better. What do you know, there are people just like me, aaaand then there’s people that are the total opposite. Now, I’m not going to say that you cannot have your own opinion, and that you can’t like these games, but considering that people claim that they’re as big of fans as Pokémon as I am, but will continue to buy into these game no matter how mediocre and brain-numbingly easy they are, for the rest of time. Because of people like Mega Ted, we will most likely never, ever get to experience a full fledged, triple A, pulling all punches Pokémon game that we had dreamt of since we were kids, and Pokémon will remain a cash grab. Sorry if this offends anyone, I’m just, super passionate about this franchise and it’s depressing to see what it’s becoming and what the fans have become too. Thanks for reading

I Expect Gen 4 remakes, to become a LAUGHING STOCK OF ALL REMAKES! So it's a re-BREAK, instead of a remake. The only good Pokemon games now for modern times. Is Fan made Pokemon games. They actually put n more effort, than the official Devs. and that is funny, great, and pathetic. if I were to be a director of Pokemon..I would not have Pokemon be for babies, and dispose the rest. I would make it E-10 rating (And/or T for teens. ). Still the target audience of 10 year olds. But it would give more room for mature stuff to some extent. Much more real deal effort. Delay the game if NEEDED. (Screw rushing for a dead-line. as rushed games are forever bad. Unless you're no man's sky.) Make sure the game is not catered to Gen 1 crap as much. (But allow gen 1 after post-game. or they are just there, but not so..you know...the pandering bs.) I'd like to cater everyone. make it where old veterans and semi-new fans. would felt loved once more. Like they did long ago. and STILL get newcomers in. Multiple difficulty options. so you can have BABY mode. Or the MADDENING mode, where you get your rear handed to you in tons. and regular/gym leader difficulty. Where it is not too hard, nor too easy. Just right. (Exp-share would be affected based off of difficulty. On all the time on baby mode. Applies to only one Pokemon for 60%-75% exp on hard mode. and it's gone in maddening/master mode.) When fighting Pokemon and trainers. The lvl scales to your lvl. To avoid being too easy for the game. (Tho again different difficulties will scale it differently.) There is more but I'll stop from there. I would add new features. and bring back OLD LOVED/LIKED features. and improve app-on them to make them even more loved. One new feature. (Tho some might hate.) is Pokemon weighing more or less. And you can make them heavier, or lighter. Based off of food, drinks, activities etc. Fatter/heavier Pokemon will have more defenses and hp. but still be much slower. if Really heavy, they always go last no matter the conditions of the environment. Where lighter Pokemon will be faster. But ether have weaker defenses, or lower HP. allowing some Pokemon to be heavy tanks, or extra fast attackers. Or even some glass tank fun builds. I mean who wouldn't want a Super-sized Nidoqueen, or aggron? They would fit so well with more weight. Of course Flying Pokemon, would fare poorly with more weight on them as they would become grounded. Plus maybe a light-weakness to ground type? and Fighting type Pokemon (and a few others.) Would rather stay fit. And not let themselves go, to become such a massive heavy whale. Lastly Some Pokemon that can still EVOLVE. I'd make some actually REGULAR evolution. Like how they did for GEN 4. and even some alternative evolutions. I want a evolution of Gyarados, where it would be Poseidos. Water/Flying. better defenses and offense. but retains the typing of 4x weakness to electric. but is unable to mega-evolve, thanks to the alt evolution. Maybe more ideas. I have more ideas. but you know. not sure if any will ever come into the game......I have no faith left in Pokemon tbh..other than fan games of such.

I'm a "true fan", but I also know where to draw the line and when I'm being butt fucked by game developers with no vaseline.. I drew the line when they attempted to sell Ultra Sun&Moon to me after having already purchased Moon a year before.. Watched the reviews and they ALL told me: "Nothing is different.. If you've played the S&M, don't buy Ultra" Seeing the trailers and hearing their lies and excuses for this game made me decide I won't be buying a switch lite.. Hell, I'd buy a Switch Lite to play Letsgo pikachu, at least those games look graphically better and implement better features. I'm also still very much pissed that Dexnav still hasn't made a return from since ORAS, especially when you're filling the dex and don't know what 1% pokemon is hiding in the grass that you need to catch.. It would've saved my sanity in Alola rather than seeing nothing but yungoos, rattatas/cates, skarmory and pikipeks all the damn time.

Pokemon Stadium is the first console Pokemon game and Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness the first console RPGs Everyone's trying to buy GameCube games now so Pokemon Colosseum and XD seem to be having a new second life in my opinion. The games have got so bad that I just play Pokemon Showdown or the older games because competitive is the only fun thing and the anime is also getting worse it should of ended in kalos or even before then and then get a new main character but if they add the right additions Pokemon could become popular again. Actually, the meaning of Pokemon Master is undefined and why do you think Ash and Ritchie will join the League when they both share the same dream? Gotta Catch 'em all Logo/Phrase is just on the English dub and it's no way on the Original Japanese Version. It doesn't mean that gotta catch em all is the English dub phrase it doesn't mean you need to catch all the Pokemon to be Pokemon Master. Second, Farfetched is just a typographical error. Third, Victor and Gloria are In-game Protagonists and that doesn't mean they are going to be an Anime protagonist. Fourth, if you ask me this is the Best team Lucario- A fan Favorite for years. Dragonite- A Psuedo Legendary and also a Fan Favorite, Gengar - Ash's first Ghost Pokemon Galarian Farfetch'd - Ash's first Regional Variant. Pokemon Journeys is something special if you just stop looking at the protagonists. If you look at it the Plot is different it's not like the other pokemon series. By your Logic, some Anime that has the same protagonist but decided to change the plot isn't something special? Its the matter of being a fan of the series to determine if its special or not.

@@howtodoit8628 Unfortunately there's a lot of fans including me who grew out got tired and dropped the whole series at this point in time (a lot got tired at some point in unova or in ash's loss in kalos I guess). And noticed that the series is getting stale too just like the games. And let's face it. Ash not aging the plot's repetitiveness and all the shortcomings he had for many years? Even ash's win in alola and the changes is journeys doesn't even heal the show's horrendous problems. And how laughable that it took them like 20 years? Just to change or develop things? And make Ash actually progress. I mean fanfic writers can do a better job than this. And it's not like journeys is still well written either though *cough* kukui's wife got pregnant at the end of sun and moon and the baby is already born at JN037 and ash STILL hasn't aged *cough* . And na ah the lore of pokemon master isn't revealed yet but it's most likely not just winning championships but its more than that that's for sure. And I wouldn't give high hopes on ash winning za warudo championships if I were you. Still doesn't make any difference that the series still wouldn't live up to modern Pokemon's quality. Not a hardcore basher of the show but I'm afraid it's in the same state as with the games now: *It's Stagnant* The only way that can fix the series is to entirely reboot it. This time giving it a more consistent and actual plot. And ofc remove the damn filler.

I think you may be right that pokemon will see a downward trend eventually I dont howver think we've seen it though yet. At least what Ive seen from the pokemon tcg the hype around the new cards and the rises increases shows different that pokemon is going down. However if pokemon keeps releasing stale game after stale game I can see people thinking "hey what did I even like about this anyway" and I find it hard to see kids growing up and being really invested into pokemon if they say got introduced to it gen 6 or later. There isnt any challenge and after your done the main game it just feels kind if empty especially with no post game since gen 6. So right now I feel like pokemon is just riding on the nostalgia train and the easy marketability of pokemon. But if the core of pokemon is still pretty bad 5 years down 10 years down even 15 years down. the people who had the magic of the first 5 gens will be dwindling and getting old while the people who were into later wont see the hype. atleast imo

Pokemon Go made more money alone than the whole videogame series since they are in 3DS, probably before, while spending much less money. And 2020 was their best year!! And that's why nothing is gonna change anytime soon. They don't care about main games anymore. And they don't need to!! I would say that the franchise is gaining ground in the TCG, the number of new players is very good news for the card game community, possibly the franchise will lose a lot from now on if they don't wake up and mature with their audience. But I doubt fans will let the franchise die, right now the mod and romhack community are doing awesome stuff with old games, and I hope gamefreak sees that and gives fans what they want.

Sales do not make a game good. Never have. Sonic 06 has way higher sales than Wario Land 4. Sonic 06 still retains a reputation of being a shit game while Wario Land 4 retains a reputation of being one of the best platformer games of all time that has an entire book written about it in terms of good game design. I didn't buy Let's Go or SWSH cuz I was confident those games would suck. Borrowed Let's Go and bought Shield used and was not surprised. The move training thing you're talking about is just what Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has done for awhile and those games merit having that because those games are actually hard. Play Dragon Quest Monsters Play Shin Megami Tensei Play Yo-Kai Watch Play Digimon Play World of Final Fantasy Play Nexomon Play Ni No Kuni There are plenty of monster collectors outside of Pokemon and almost none of them suffer from the long list of issues Pokemon does, especially not in difficulty.

Honestly, I prefer the old visual style of DP and HGSS Primitive models n' all Heck, I wish that HGSS were resold to be exactly the way they were visually on DS, but make all the starters competitively awesome for battle as much as Garchomp if not moreso. the sales figures are news to me. I feel most of these criticisms are fair, but even with the downward trend in sales, it still seems absurd to me, the idea that pokemon would lose success or even "die". I sort of suspect any vocal component of fans trying to talk about issues with the games are a loud minority. That said, I ran into someone's comment a few years ago about the potential remaining life of the pokemon franchise and I've been obsessed ever since. Even though I have my hands in several pieces of pokemon related content, my older games, adventures manga, the anime (I think since xy the anime has been in an upward swing, I think sun/moon and from the looks of it, even journeys are pushing more at the expected trends of the anime than ever before) and there's a number of pokemon concepts I want to happen; I am incredibly interested to see if there'll ever be a day when the pokemon franchise truly falls.
