I'm torn too. In Shadow of Almia, he's mostly good but goes berserk because of the evil organization. In Pokepark, he's like the antagonistic figure at first yet we befriend him be after he realizes the error of his ways. The only time he was evil was in Mystery Dungeon EoD/T/S. He tried to engulf the world in Darkness... Because reasons not really explored. Other than that he was always ambiguous or neutral most times and his victims were asleep or dead by accident (RIP little girl from Black & White 2)

4:15 You say uncontrollable powers, almost like Darkrai himself can't fully control them, or perhaps being near him causes the effects, like a dark aura or radiation. Here's a thought: the kid that got effected by Darkrai was the son of the Sailor. The same Sailor knows the location of Darkrai's island, aka Darkrai's territory. I think the Sailor took his son out for a little father son bonding time and either accidentally or purposefully sailed too close to Darkrai's island. Darkrai took this as something invading its space and reacted to defend its territory, or perhaps the kid wandered across Darkrai or saw him form the ship's deck and immediately went under Darkrai's effects. This also explain the girl at the cursed house in black and white 2, which incidentally also states in its pokedex that "Darkrai means no harm." This poor girl probably stumbled across one of Darkrai's hiding places or his old territory before he moving to New Moon Island. I also think using Pokemon Mystery Dungeon as evidence is complete bull, cuz that would mean a lot of things in the game is fact, like idk, humans turning into pokemon?! TL;DR I think Darkrai is a recluse, territorial pokemon that stays away from humans and other pokemon due to not having a proper grip on his dark powers. However, as the civilized world expands Darkrai is running out of places to hide away in, thus meaning more people are gonna accidentally invade his space. Also, it probably doesn't help that he's garnered the reputation of being the dark nightmare pokmeon, so I bet you some headstrong trainers had attacked him in the past to try and drive him away, explain his territorial nature. I think he gets the fact that his powers do bad things to people, so he actively tries to hid away, only using his powers if he absolutely has to. Now honestly, if Cresselia is a being of light and the one created to heal those effected by Darkrai, she should step up her game and start trying to warn humans and pokemon to stay out of Darkrai's space instead of only appearing when someone needs her feathers, or to attack Darkrai cuz some idiot human accidentally found his hiding place like its his fault for not picking a better hiding spot. Tbh, Cresselia seems kind of lazy in her duties as the Light counterpart. Edit: Didn't realize how many people have similar ideas as I do. Nice to know everyone is on the same page.

Well, there's 2 things that bug me: 1.) In Platinum, getting to NewMoon to challenge him, theres no one there, if hes really evil, then why seclude himself there? Especially the circumstances of meeting him. I mean Palkia, Dialga on the Mountain, Giratina in the Distortion world, Heatran in a Cave, but Darkrai, A small Island, it would of been more interesting if You encounter Darkrai while sleeping, but They didn't do that. 2.) I Don't think The Mystery Dungeon Games hold any merrits since its technically not cannon in anyway, and just a spin off series.

Darkrai isn't evil. He isolates him on New Moon Island so no one is harmed by his power and if someone is affected by his nightmares then Cresselia is close by on Full Moon Island

I personally feel that Darkria is not intentionally evil. *The sailor’s boy bit:* The sailor’s boy must have accidentally startled Darkria, causing him to use his move (Dark void)! If he really was being hostile....Why wasn’t he at the house hiding in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, but instead.....Was On a deserted island...ALONE! *The pokemon dungeon bit:* This Darkria is trapped in darkness, feeling helpless and alone..... So he tried to find a way to fight it, thinking that if he plunged the world into darkness, it would make everyone become his friend. The way he went on to do this was wrong, however I don’t think Darkria knew how to as for help! The aggression was really just Fear! Fear of being back where he started! It’s the same situation with necrozma, Necrozma hunted Sogalao and Lunala so he could restore what he lost! He was Afraid of losing the light forever! Many people don’t blame Necrozma for this behaviour! Fear can make us do terrible things to others and our selves! *🌙 (idk how to spell name) bit:* 🌙 is more of a guide, trying to help darkria. However perhaps of darkria’s fear of hurting others, he does not accept help of 🌙, which then leads him into being alone and the cycle starts all over again! I know that Darkria is not Evil intentionally! I mean what would you do if you were in Darkria’s boots (and with no knowledge on how to ask for help or where to get it)! I hope my point made you think about the good as well as the bad!

The Platinum encounter is wrong. After meeting with the boy, you have to encounter Cresselia to get the Lunar Wing, which cures nightmares. Meanwhile to find Darkrai you actually have to go into that one house in Canalieve (or whatever it's called) which is usually locked with a special event ticket, and you can find the other island after falling asleep and having a bad dream which is inescapable, until you either catch or defeat Darkrai. After that, you exit the house and someone walks up to you saying no one has been in that same house for about 50 years or so, confirming it was indeed all a dream

I agree with @James WYMA Darkrai is very similar to early Mewtwo. He has a deep mistrust of People and other Pokémon because all they have known was to fear them. And this caused him to use all his powers against them for protection!! But when he saw the care between trainer and Pokémon he used his powers for good!!!

If I remember correctly both Drowzee and Hypno were used as an attempt to eat the little girl's bad dreams, but failed since neither can eat nightmares, while Darkrai was the cause of the nightmares themselves

I'm a subscriber to your channel. I like how you use TEDDIURSA to talk but I disagree with this video. On the rise of darkrai movie he risked his life to help save those people. U never mentioned that. He just needed love. Games are different from the TV show. Most games lie a lot anyway if it was a hundred percent fact that darkrai killed someone it would be in the tv show. So I disagree to a certain degree. He had his bad moments but his good as well so it all balance out.
