When I did this bounty, I genuinely felt bad. Goddamn 25 dollars. 25 dollars to ruin a family. It might be the thing i'm a huge softie too lol. I tried to let him go, let him run away with his family. But the mission appeared as failed and i had to redo it. You can't let him go. EDIT: There are a few things that concern me about the guy actually, and that is how he treats his son. The scene implies that he probably isn't a too good father and would cause some serious issues to the son if he continued acting like that. I think it was for the best he was taken away from the family. Idk the crimes he did nor his background so i can't tell how would i punish him if it was up to me. The mistreatment to his son might also imply that he isn't a good person in general. R* likes giving unclear messages for us to figure out ourselves. I doubt that if he did some serious crimes other than perhaps stealing a few horses/cattle and/or robbing townfolk he'd only have a bounty of 25 bucks, counting in that the player gets a bounty of 40 dollars for killing someone. That applies just to the player tho and idk how is it with npcs. Afterall the skinnerbrother bounty gives only 80 bucks, and the dude massacred dozens of people. Kinda a fucked system but reasonable for the bounties to not be op. I think you guys are right. He isn't a good person when we summarize it and I shouldn't feel bad.

I always wondered why people with that kinda bounty hang and don't a chance to pay it or (for some honor or a side-story) have the player pay the bounty on their behalf. Like Arthur shoots up Valentine and Strawberry, gets $100 bounty and gets to spend a night in jail. Logic much.

You can always do it and free him at the hanging by shooting the rope prior to the lever being pulled. It'll make you wanted instantly, but there's actually unique dialogue for it not shown in this clip - Arthur (and I presume John too) tells him to run and take care of his boy

I set him free after hog tying him and his family ran into the woods and he followed. I followed them until i realized i actually did need to catch him cause he was saying the dialogue that he was supposed to say when you're picking him up lmao. I also never had to fight his gang cause Arthur's already said the dialogue of him breaking his neck when i recaptured him for some reason.

It's very interesting to see the obvious duality between John Marston & Mark Johnson, and then notice the comment section's willingness to condemn one but not the other. Like don't get me wrong I'm not saying anyone is wrong for having no qualms about bringing in Mark, I just find it funny that most of those same people will condemn Ross for doing the same a decade later at the end of RDR1. Really shows how much you're willing to overlook when you like a person.
@littleaqua32 Жыл бұрын
It’s not that sad when you soon realize he planned on escaping anyway. I didn’t feel so bad after his first (his gang tried to bully me to let him go) and second (he untied himself and tried to run away) attempts failed.

Actually, that boy is one of the street kids in St. Denis! And he'll lead you into a trap where you will be robbed by a big crew! (that's not repeating charactermodells, that's a dramatic turnout xD) Holy sh*t it's totally resembling John Marston. I mean: John Marston, Mark Johnson... It's so obvious!!!

Reminds me of a real life thing, a guy was supposed to be sentenced to 20 years, or more I cant wholly remember… and the state ‘forgot’ to actually send him to jail So officially he was in jail technically… but he wasn’t, and when they went to let him out they found he wasn’t there and never had been So then they went and wanted him to serve his time even though after the time had passed, but luckily the court found it wasn’t the man’s fault and that serving his sentence was unnecessary as he was very obviously a changed man There’s more detail to it if you find the KZbin story about it somewhere… I think searching up about “guy who they forgot to send to jail” might bring it up idk

It's one thing to randomly murder travelers and townspeople, but rdr2 showed me I don't have the heart to be evil. These missions really test your ability to be cold and heartless. I finished the game with high honor because even in a game, I didn't have the capacity for abject cruelty.

This is kind off a stretch but since everybody else is noting the similarities between Mark and John... When you kill the three men that tried to free Johnson and Arthur says "And look what's happened. Dead because of you.", I couldn't help but be reminded of the first game where John Marston is out to bring three of his former-gang members to justice (Bill, Javier, and Dutch). The quote is also applicable to John since those three do meet their end through John's actions, whether directly or indirectly. Agent Ross in the first also makes a point out of this, especially with Dutch after he shoots his corpse with John's gun.

Originally I felt so bad for the guy that I tried to find a way to let him go, only to find out that the game didn't give me any choice. I stopped having qualms, however, after he and his gang tried to screw me over later on. That sure made the rest of the mission easier. That being said I still have mixed feelings in retrospect. He might genuinely have tried to change, but if his past was constantly catching up with him despite his efforts, it must have been tough.
