She has the voice of an Angel never to be forgotten

Wery few know what the Bible actually has promised us all this time. Look up Revelation 20;13 and see a part of it. Jesus comments this in John 5;28 and Paul in Acts 24;15. Add Revelation 21;3-5 and you`ll se Gods plan with our planet

Her best vocal ever, that is saying something because every song she ever sang was flawless. I put her on top of any list of female singers, she was a gift to the world.

The legend is that Karen didn't like this song. She didn't think it suited her voice. She heard Richard's arrangement and agreed to come in and record a 'demo track' to Richard's arrangement. With lyrics written on a napkin, Karen began to sing and it was so perfect the 'demo track' became the official track used on the album. One Take Karen had struck again!

Karen's beautiful voice is so recognizable that all you have to hear is her sing one note and you know it is her. Truly the mark of a special singer. I was fortunate enough to see The Carpenters in concert in 1976. I'm 78 and I still think of that concert as one of the highlights of my life.

Spot on comment, nobody I have heard described her voice the way you just did--brilliant observation!!!! I have been describing it for decades a such. It's as if your mother is singing to you, rocking you and comforting you, and puts you in perfect peace and safety. You know you are loved. Box up all that emotion and you have Karen's voice.

Written by singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka. Sung hauntingly beautiful by the late great Karen Carpenter. Brilliant! You should do a reaction to the original by Neil Sedaka. You will be pleasantly surprised. Lovely reaction by you both.

It was actually written by the great Leon Russell and Bonnie Bramlett (of Delaney and Bonnie - she also played the tall blonde heavyset waitress on Roseanne). The idea for the song came from Rita Coolidge, who got the idea after watching the relationships of female groupies and rock stars. In fact, the first version of the song was called Groupie (Superstar).

Richard Carpenters magnificent arrangement skills are showcased in this song. Every instrument is in its place and Karen’s vocals in the center of it and holding it all together. In my opinion it is Karen’s best vocal performance. Rumor has it Karen didn’t like the song but like any true artist she nailed her performance. This is one of their best songs in my opinion.

Boy does this song show off Karen's pure and angelic vocals. A Neil Sedaka song so, so beautifully interpreted by Karen. It's also interesting that about this same time another song entitled Solitaire hit the airwaves. Totally different tune and vibe, more like Euro house music vibe, but sung to perfection by the brilliant Laura Brannigan. The juxtaposition of these two singers is such a beautiful and great contrast on how majestic voices come in many shapes and sizes. Laura could tunefully belt out a song to the max, while angelic Karen's soft, sweet vocals come as near to pitch perfect as a singer could be. Thank God for both, and both gone way too soon. RIP, Karen and Laura.

I just finished playing online solitaire for a couple of hours and wanted to listen to some music; ironically this was the first video I watched (love Shawn and Mel's reactions). It's an addiction for me, like some people are addicted to video games. (Someone up there is sending me a message with this song?). Karen hated this song and didn't want to sing it, but was talked into it. Her voice is incomparable.

There are very few true altos, and Karen Carpenter is one of the best. It seems she didn't like this song that much, and I think she really preferred singing in her higher voice, but the lower she goes the richer and purer she gets! Truly amazing. And to think she started out playing drums and wasn't really interested in singing. SMDH.

Neil Sedaka and The Carpenters toured together in 1975. It was a disaster with Sedaka topping them every night as the opening act. They dumped him off the tour months later. They recorded his song "Solitaire" in1974. Karen disliked the song, that was a vocal highpoint in her career.
