Come to think of it, this is one of the saddest stories ever created in Fallout 4. I couldn't imagine the pain Phyllis felt after knowing that she had shot her own grandson, the only family she had left. The Sole Survivor's story is also very sad. I'm currently going through an early miscarriage. I was only four weeks along, and I did everything I could for my baby to be healthy, I know there is nothing I could have done to protect my baby(early miscarriages are common, and a result of a mistake in coding of the DNA), but that hurts more than anything. There is a helplessness I don't think I'll ever get over. My child died before it got to live, in the place where it's supposed to be safest...I can't imagine accidentally killing a child. When Phyllis says "Family is the only thing worth a damn in this world" I started bawling my eyes out. Knowing I'll never hold my baby...my heart is broken.

The one story with the family who went into their fallout shelter using cargo shipping boxes not sure how else to explain it but anyways for me when you heard the voices on you hud like a search beacon the further you are the more broken up the communication is, the closer you get the more clear the reception is like when you had to check on the group of the brotherhood of steel that went missing its like a ping like that anyways the families emergency call for help, they were supposedly trapped and needed help to get out they were running out of air but by the time that you get to them and after killing the mutants in the area and getting to opening the hatch you find that this family has been dead for years, that was depressing for me and i had it with the game so far, i stopped playing it as to have a break from that sort of thing.

@oxhorn8 жыл бұрын

I think separating Curie out from her Miss Nanny sisters would be a mistake. Sure she made a panacea but that was most likely just basic elimination process for her. Sure she acts more compassionate and "alive" then her sisters but that is exactly the things the scientist who modified her intended to make her. And then when you put her into the synth... I do not quite know how that would even be possible(knowing a thing or two about computers) and I doubt that would make her any different. Sure she is "flesh and blood" but nothing noteworthy changed. She is not more immortal. She is not smarter(she complains about being slower at processing). There is also another Miss Nanny who finds "love" in Diamond City. So the relationship the Sole Survivor has with Curie is not unique. This part kinda kills me since she complains about her emotions and jealousy when she is a synth. So basically what you do is make an acceptable robot scientist into a teenager. Maybe this is noteworthy. She is a wonderful follower and very interesting but she is a Miss Nanny in my opinion. A slightly tuned one. Codsworth is much of the same. But we do not get to change him into a synth. Nor do we want to. He has a hat and a brilliant accent. What more could one want? Most other robots in the game is the ones with their "personality settings" set to something special. Like KL-E-0, who thinks she is more woman then you can handle. I banged the robobrain and want to find out.

Almost makes you wonder if this earth;s Isaac Asimov was laughed out of public life for his three Laws of Robotics, on a side note, Codsworth and Curie where both "alone" for the majority of the time, perhaps if you do this one, address why those two appear more aware/conscious than many of the others, like for instance, those at Grey Garden. Perhaps they had to have a "personality installed" like the three supervisors at Grey Garden, but be left mostly to themselves, and what about the other Mr. Handy's, The one at the science store near Ticonderoga, the large group of them at the Galleria. Also what's up with Deezer at Covenant? lol lots of questions. :)

Oxhorn, first of all this was a great video, touching even. The way you present these stories always make them seem more tragic and heartfelt. I had a suggestion for a video, if you don't mind. My ex bf was too lazy to make an account on my 360 and played skyrim on mine. One night he went to bed and left the console on, I could hear it all way from our room because it was old and the fan was very noisy, I asked him to shut it off three times, and everytime he said "I will," well I got impatient with him and decided to do it myself so as soon as my foot touched the floor, he dramatically got out of bed and started swearing at me and stomped (yes, stomped) to the living room. It took him like 30 seconds to shut it off and i was like wtf is he doing--it takes like 5 seconds to save and 1 sec to shut it off. Next morning, I hopped on to Skyrim and lo and behold he saved over my file, my character that I put all my hard work into was just gone. He stood there and kept asking what's wrong, while intently staring at my face. I was upset but I told him that it was OK, mistakes happen. He looked visibly mad. I really think he did it on purpose because he wanted a reaction but I forgave him instead. I always try to get myself back in the game but I can't because I had almost completed the game.. oh well I guess 🤷 I broke up with him 7 months later. That relationship went on for way too long.

No. That would just be hypocritical considering I romanced Curie. He reminds me of an uncle I had. Old, and Desperate. That can be debatable, but to me he was. "All these years, I never realized how much she meant to me until she said something." Seems desperate to me. Players call it love, but I don't see it. Marrying a Robot is beside the point. Not to mention he says he doesn't care what anyone says and they're in love. That statement contradicts what he said above what I quoted.

The story sounded more like the kid shot himself with her gun while she was sleeping. Even though there’s nothing supporting this next part, it sounds like she didn’t start having nightmares that made her almost kill people when she woke up until after her grandson died. So I don’t believe that she accidentally shot him waking up from a nightmare. More likely, her grandson took her gun while she was sleeping and was playing with it. Then the gun goes off, killing him, and now she blames herself for being asleep when it happened. She subconsciously punishes herself with nightmares of killing her grandson and claiming to be a synth is just a defense mechanism so she can live with herself and what happened. This leads to more and more intense nightmares. If the soul survivor hadn’t found her, I believe she would have committed suicide eventually. At least that’s my theory anyways. Some people just don’t get happy endings, it seems.

Just felt like I should say, this F4 story always hit especially close to home for me. I've got both immediate family members and close friends who struggle with mental illness -- bipolar mood disorder, clinical depression, even autism spectrum disorder in my case -- so listening to Phyllis recounting her story, blaming herself for the death of her grandson, walling herself off as though she was some sort of monster... it was heartbreaking. (Her voice actress, Joan Van Ark, really hit it out of the park as well -- the raw emotion in her voice was perfect.) From my perspective, I never thought she was a Synth -- what happened sounded more like an accident, caused by a combination of factors. Like you said, a jumpy sleeper having a gun by their bedroll is an accident waiting to happen, and between the intense nightmares and the disorientation and irrational behavior on waking, it seemed as though Phyllis suffered from night terrors; while it's not a terribly common condition under normal circumstances, prolonged stress can cause episodes, and it's obvious her life hadn't been kind even before she shot her grandson. Compound that with PTSD from the accident, prolonged isolation from other people, and the vicious cycle of self-blame she was stuck in... well, suffice to say, I wasn't simply roleplaying when I picked the sympathetic dialogue options. I really felt for her, because I've heard that same despair in the voices of people I care about.

A great re-telling of this little quest. My SS had convinced Phyllis to at least consider joining the Minutemen, and so I had begun slowly building up Egret Tours and getting others into the settlement, but she never got to see it finished since she was killed by mongrels. Egret Tours is now a huge pure water producing settlement and they're about 20-something strong in terms of the settler count; her getting killed was heartbreaking to me (especially when I realized she didn't have a synth component after all) and so I made a shrine for her in the workshop room.
