I wanted to ask you a question.. I have a male flowerhorn which is very active ...Since I bought him he grew very fast but once I took him out of the tank whilst cleaning the tank... His head got shrunk the next day and after that day his head gets shrunk after every water change even I change the water with him in the tank.... He had also got infected with HITH but got cured soon...His fins are also split now and there are still some smale holes noticeable on his head and above his nostrills...but it seems well and his apetite is also good..... HOW CAN I GET BACK HIS FINS AND CAN RECOVER HIS HOLES???? Please help! Im very worried... I dont wanna lose him...Its been with me since he was a fry....your opinion on this problem would be highly appreciated ..Thank you

I wonder if you're using plenty of de-chlorinator. if you use too little, it can give him chlorine burn. and that can lead to lots of problems. also, get some "stress coat". that usually helps a lot.

Any help is appreciated! My flowerhorn is not eating anymore and his hump is deflating. I feed him the exact same things you mentioned in the video (mealworms and hikari pellets). He was fine before but all the sudden he stopped eating and he is mostly just a really dark grey color with a deflated hump. I just did a water change but what should i do? What do you do if your flowerhorn refuses to eat anything but live worms/frozen blood worms/brine and sometimes frozen krill depending on his mood lol. He also gets live guppies/convicts/platies I breed myself so no scare of disease.... he won’t eat freeze dried or pellets. Tastes it and spits it straight back out.....? He’s about 5 (3.5 when I got him) inches and I’ve had him about a month and half now... I tried for the first week to feed him 50% of the brands you listed for flowerhorn + my normal cichlids pellets... forgot to add he also refuses raw Talapia and shrimp .. would be nice to get him on a pellet ive tried soaking and mixing.

yea, if your fh gets the taste of live food ("real food"), he might get conditioned to it and might not take pellets. especially in the beginning, it's important to get him to eat pellets first, and then supplement other foods. I know of a method, but it can take anywhere from a week to two weeks. get your fh's favorite food. crush up pellets and mix something like 5:1 ratio. 1 being the pellets. might have to freeze the concoction, or clump them together best you can with your fingers. feed this for several days. and if and only if he eats it, slowly up the pellet ratio. in about 2 weeks, more or less, he'll eat pellets. once you get him to eat pellets, only feed pellets for 1 week or more before supplementing anything else. good luck.

Hi, I saw your video. Imo, it looks like fungus. usually fungus medicine is better for fungus. furan is antibacterial medicine. but I'm not 100% on what it could be by just looking at it. it could be fungus, or it could be bacterial. but since the skin is open, there could definitely be secondary bacterial infection, too. since you're already using furan, wait and see if the medicine works. if he doesn't show any improvements in a week or so, I would try the fungus medicine. I hope your flowerhorn gets better, soon.

that's kind of small to last for 2 years. only way for that to happen is if you meticulously clean the tank and the filters, and do big water changes. and also, if your flowerhorn is ok behavior wise. if the tank is too small for a big flowerhorn, he'll get scared often or freak out every day. if your flowerhorn doesn't do that, it might be fine.

if you just got your fh, it can take a week to a month before he's not afraid of you. until then, just feed him and leave him alone. for the hole, you might have to use medicine. something like "api general cure"

It really depends on the flowerhorn. Some flowerhorns are quite aggressive and if you have any stones or rocks or any decorations, he'll hurt his lips or body by constantly trying to move the gravel or rocks or decorations. Other flowerhorns are very docile and they're ok with it. So, only way to know is by seeing how your flowerhorn deal with it. Usually though, when flowerhorns are young, they're ok with it. But when they get to a certain size 6+ inches or so, they really start to show this aggressive behavior.
