This episode is like Chicken Noodle Soup for The Rock Song Writer's soul! Hearing you guys riff about the writing process makes me miss being in bands and working out tunes, through thick and thin. Gaslight Anthem is a band I got in to right after they went on hiatus, so I'm stoked to hear some new stuff, especially when JBJ comes on with the guest spot. Great work sir, thanks for another banger!!!

This is the best interview. It actually talks about song writing in the way I feel every day. The ACTUAL songwriting and mental struggles of creating. Not the version you get from most interviews. Learned a lot and this insight is insanely valuable. Thank you both for creating this. It took some weight off my shoulders.

Awesome interview! Gaslight Anthem is one of my favorite bands of all-time! Hope they can record Farside's "I hope you're unhappy", we need that studio version! It's a shame that it's totally imposible for me to see TGA live someday (I live in Venezuela), but I'm glad they're back, and they're gonna record a new album, all I have to say is THANK YOU GUYS for creating such a powerful music!

A little disappointing to see him put on weight. He used to be in shape
@whalenonfools4 ай бұрын
@@frank-the-tank75 he quit smoking and started taking antidepressants, both of which are things that are historically known to lead to weight gain. Also, he's in his mid 40s. He's not a young man anymore. Not that any of this matters.

Brian keeps putting words to my thoughts and feelings. His take on the meaning of life is pretty much how i try to live, even if i never put it in words like that. Greatful for all of it.

38:24 I was working on a song once, messing around with lead guitar licks. I figured out this sweet lick and it was amazing but it sounded so familiar and after a couple hours I was like “oh this is forget me not by Brian Fallon” and I was so bummed cuz it fit the song so well. On another note, Brian Fallon is my hero. Handwritten got me through middle school and my first heartbreak. As a musician and a songwriter-aspiring at least-it’s relieving to hear that your heros struggle with in the same craft that you do. Gives you hope, even if it’s only a little, that maybe you can do what you’ve set out to do as an artist

With Pat Kindlon he legitimately writes his lyrics for Drug Church and Self Defense Family like BLHUUUR; he does it all on the spot, in the studio. It's dope. His podcast(s) are dope too, Worst Possible Timeline is a great show. PS: Leatherface fuckin' rocks, hope it heavily influences the new TGA material.

If you run around stage and have pyro show...I just feel nowdays you are covering for something that is lacking. There's nothing more powerful than just a singer and a band playing live show. You don't need anything else. If people don't know ABBA...they don't know music. Or The Kelly Family.
