Priest. Prisoner. Saint. This short film is based on the true story of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a Catholic priest who sacrificed his life to save a Polish political prisoner at the concentration camp in Auschwitz.

True definition of a martyr. He knew what would happen, and didn’t care. Like the man said “if I can bring someone closer to god, then I gladly suffer”… such a powerful and meaningful message.

Except Fr Maximillian Kolbe laid down his life for strangers. Many of whom were gravely remiss in not coming forward after the war to acknowledge the priests supreme sacrifice. Such was the nature of their gratitude. They used his life like a stepping stone, for them to survive at all costs, but not at the cost of their lives. I certainly pray and hope that divine justice exists beyond this life, because there are many injustices not rectified in this life.

One, crucial scene of the conversation between the German officer and Fr. Kolbe was omitted or trivialised. He was so stunned by Fr. Kolbe's request that he started referring to him by "Sir", not mentioning the simple fact that anyone approaching KL staff without being summoned would have been shot on the spot. After Fr. Kolbe' s and his fellow inmates' death, nobody was ever sent to hunger bunker again. And it was 1941. The worst of that hell on earth was yet to come. May the story of this brave saint man and also of Ms Stanislawa Leszczyńska, a midwife, who helped to bring into this world some around 3000 children whose place of birth happened to be KL Auschwitz, be the food for thought and an answer for the ever so often asked question: where was God then. She has not lost any of these children at birth despite dramatic conditions, which meant no hygene, no clean water, no clean towel, birthing place being the stove in front of the whole barrack. Even Mengele himself did not dare to oppose to her.

Amazes me how teachers, professors even several members of the house senate of the demorat party say the Holocaust have never happened. Even FDR who many think was a great pos potus, a demorat denied what the Nazis were doing to the people the Jews and all. FDR Turned away, if my memory is correct the ST LOUIS with 600 JEWS on board and would not let them come through as refugees. They were returned to Germany never heard from again. FDR had forbidden USArmy from taking any pictures or movies of death camps, concentration camps and Gen Eisenhower pretty much said F YOU and made sure photos and movies were taken to prove to the world what Hitler did. Harry S Truman, a US Army Captain and VP under FDR and when FDR the slime ball finally croaked Harry took over and was behind Gen Eisnehower to release the pictures and movies of the freeing of the living cadavers in the death camps. Remember Demorats never approved that Israel would be recognized and even threatened Harry with impeachment if he recognized Israel. Harry was the 1st leader of the world to recognize Israel as a nation among all nations. If you do not see from history then and now how one party is so evil and disgusting lookd around the globe and see the word Democrat and you will see evil. I am not GOP I am not Trumpie I am a JFK Era Democrat but honestly I cannot support any demorat for the past 30 years and I never vote a party ticket. Sadly at this date the Nazis in some cases were force marching Concentration Camp survivors away from the camps to hide them and take them to their deaths. At the end of the War, as I am sure is well known, the Naxis made a huge effort to try to hide their evil demonic practices.

It’s a shame they made such a mess with the uniforms. They had guys wearing SS hats and Army uniforms 🤷♂️

I have been viewing lately many many KZbin informational videos about Ww2 and the facts came out about the way The Third Reich ie Hitler and his ratpack near the end of the war pushed a lot of very young Hitler Youth into the War along with untrained what they regarded as useless men who were simply cannon fodder to keep the war going. All these people had little to no correct uniforms, just ragtag clothing.

Well done! Left me wanting more. I especially liked the opening of the dangling rosaries, followed by the prayer. You have a vision. Good luck in pursuing your dreams.

I'm a little lost in my faith, I'd say I feel more Jewish than Christian even though I was brought up in the Christian faith but Father Kolbe gave it all for Love and the Love of G.D.

St Max Kolbe is one of my 21 patron saints + Virgin Mary + St Joseph + St Gertrude the Great...24 in all !!! I am such a bad Catholic I need 24 intercessors in all !!! Hee hee I have surrendered all my Plenary Indulgences to the Virgin Mary....to give away as she pleases !!! Not boasting here but my 24 patron saints have helped me release from Purgatory/save earthly souls from damnation.. Just saying and giving glory God

So the arresting SS guys (indicated by the skull at the head) had no shoulder pieces. The first guy had no collar tabs at all, but the second had those of the Wehrmacht. This "Kommandant" seems to have the shoulder pieces of a major but the collar tab of a lieutenant (Wehrmacht equivalent of the SS rank). He has an blank green sleeve band. The only green SS-sleeve band was for "East Turkish Waffenverband of the SS". No commandant of Auschwitz was ever commander of an SS foreigner unit afaik. The medal appears to be the service award of the NSDAP, which was only permitted as a ribbon on the small medal bar or in this type on the big medal bar over the breast pocket. In 1941 I don't think that wearing a swastika arm band within the uniform code. Praise to Kolbe though!

Thank You FATHER You gave your life for another man not of our faith, just as HE gave HIS life for all peoples of all faiths and beliefs then and now. I do believe that when your spirit went to HIM, HE BLESSED he, EMBRACED you and said the words we all hope hear Well done my faithful servant, well done. Saints walk upon this earth every hour of the day and night. They are of all faiths who believe in GOD and OUR SAVIOUR A saint could very well be sleeping in a doorway this very moment, or it could be OUR LORD, seeing for Himself what the people of the world has become. Saints are the guides to us humans to change our ways to get back on the path that HE wants us to be on. From young saints to old saints of both genders. Pray that they will help our prayers to GOD get to HIM and that HE will aide all of HIS children. Pax+
