I still consider seeing Chris and The Saints in a small club in Pittsburgh back in 1987 as one of, if not THE, best concerts I have ever seen. Twenty one people (I counted). Set was great. "Messin' With The Kid" was the highlight. Went backstage with my WTCS passes. Chris asked me: "What just happened out there?" I told him that 21 people just experienced one of the greatest concerts they will ever see! Having been in radio for 36 years now, I still consider Chris Bailey my favorite rock star that I have ever personally met...

Great anecdote mate. It's those moments that keep us still as interested as ever in music old and new (I'm nearly 50). Heading along this evening to a small club in Sydney's inner west to see The Aints - a band fronted by Ed Kuepper doing a bunch of stuff off the 1st 3 Saints albums. Should be a treat but yeah - would have been killer if Chris was fronting.

I always loved the way they kept the garage feel along with the punk energy and the melodic pop sensibility.We were a bit spoiled in the Seventies.

It ain't too easy being a young man Going round in circles, honey, all the time You've played their game now for so long can't see What in the world are they trying to do to me? Sometimes you get that old lost feeling Sometimes it hits you when you're feeling down It's that old feeling, honey, brings you down I say it makes you crawl... You walk down the main street out in the city See all the girls now they're so pretty But all their smiling faces, yeah are gonna pass you by It don't make no difference no matter how hard you try Sometimes you get that old lost feeling Sometimes it hits you when you're feeling down It's that old feeling, honey, brings you down I say it makes you crawl... Ya hangin' 'round in alleys, ya hangin' 'round in bars Just looking for some fun but you don't get none and there you are... Looking for some action looking for some fun but you are down in the gutter And you don't get none, oh no, just nothing left to do at night, yeah How do you feel now that it's all over Your games all melted under the sun Just like a kid, take a trip down to the sea Stuck out in the middle and there's just nothing left to say But, sometimes you get that old lost feeling Sometimes it hits you when you're feeling down It's that old feeling, honey, brings you down I say it makes you crawl... Yeah.

@@borisbevan8271 That's sort of the sadly funny thing, they refused to wear the punk gear just to sell their image unlike The Pistols who were all show and less substance and yet The Pistols got all the recognition for Nevermind the Bollocks while I'm Stranded went unnoticed outside OZ.

Well.... They're from Brisbane, Australia. It is in the southeast corner of Queensland. A swank and luxurious place of enchantment really. Just saying
@timcooper1403 жыл бұрын
Not sure how we "ignored" them in the UK. I saw them countless times in London in my teens, most notably bottom at The Roundhouse on a triple-bill - Ramones, Talking Heads, Saints - and (I'm) Stranded was one of the first punk singles released here. Always fantastic, I was mates with bass player Kim, purely from seeing them so often. I mean all punk music was shunned by mainstream labels and radio for the first year (1976-77) but I wouldn't say it was ignored - there was a small but enthusiastic (and ever-growing) audience for this great music.

That's what made these guys cool especially Bill, they were even more punk than The Pistols cos they refused to dress in the "uniform" of safety pins and mohawks, they were just themselves, the music was what they were about and yet everyone knows The Pistols and nobody knows The Saints, its tragic.
