And the translation of the verses are as follows: This is going to be long but please try to follow the story from the beginning to know its appropriate and complete context. But you can just skip to the 18th verse if you don't feel like it. Surat Al-Najm/53 verse 1: By the star when it descends,(God swears by the sun that sets 2: Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 3: Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 4: It is not but a revelation revealed, (By God via Gabriel) 5: Taught to him by one intense in strength (angel Gabriel) 6: One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form( Only Muhammad has seen Gabriel's true form) 7: While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 8: Then he approached and descended (Gabriel now descends from the heavens) 9: And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer [To Muhammad] 10: And he revealed to His[God's] Servant what he revealed. 11: The [Muhammad's] heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 12: So will you dispute with him over what he [Muhammad]saw? 13: And he certainly saw him in another descent.(The second time Muhammad saw Gabriel) 14: At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary[of heaven] 15: Near it is the Garden of Refuge 16: When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].(A halo just like the moon covered the Lote Tree) 17: The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 18: He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. Now for the verses that are deemed satanic [They are rhetorical questions for the pagan Arabs) 19: So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? ( During pre-Islamic times the Arabs worshiped Idols, 9 to be specific, and two of them are named above. God now asks them after Muhammad witnessing the clear signs of the One True God this question [in this verse]) 20: And Manat, the third - the other one? ( The third idol is named here and the three were well known Idols that were worshiped by the Arabs and they were infamously known as the daughters of God when they were in fact the Angels. The Arabs claimed they only did that just cause they thought through worshiping the idols they could worship god) 21: Is the male for you and for Him the female? (Another rhetorical question saying that the Arabs imagine that they have male offspring but attribute female offspring to God Almighty since Arabs deemed male offspring worthier and female offspring and they falsely claim that angels are daughters of God.) 22: That, then, is an unjust division. (People who claim that Islam or Allah for this matter oppressed women have been answered. God says that it was an unjust division. Note that it was Arab culture that oppressed women NOT ISLAM, it was just that the islam rooted from arabia.) 23: They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. (God says that these idols which are your objects of worship to which you give rank and state are nothing but names devoid of significance. Arabs idolaters said each and every idol represented a certain issue, e.g. might, knowledge, love, and wrath) 24: Or is there for man whatever he wishes? ( God finally asks if man should just get what he wants when this world is nothing but to test your worth) With all that, man was that troublesome, i now conclude by saying that the quran is poetic in nature and can be ambiguous. So ask guidance from God that you may be free from Satan's corruption. Bless you.

I love this brothers lectures, he has great insight and knowledge and sincerity, however... dear brother i don't know who does the sound for you and how it became a tradition for so many to use echo, and so much echo they is hard to understand some of what you're saying, the remembrance of imam Hussein and the accounting of those events are already so heartbreaking that just hearing it and reflecting upon what happened is enough to make some one cry and mournful , I can't speak for others but the echo is so much it interrupts my thoughts and I lose my meditation on that day and what it must have been like and what it means, maybe I'm old fashioned and I in know way want to diminish your outstanding faith and knowledge or any of the others who may use echo and loudspeakers, but some is way overboard in my opinion, .. it is Islam and not pink Floyd , wish you all peace and thank you for your valuable time and knowledge may ALLAH all praise to him, reward you all well for your love of ALLAH his messenger and the Quran and ahlubayt.

Even though I am fan of his but still his analysis can only debunk the claims of those Sunni Muslims who think that this story was true based on Qu'ran . Because one has to assume that MUHAMMAD (saw) was an infallible prophet. However to the western academic or a Christian missionary who do not assume Muhammed (saw) was a prophet let alone an infallible one this argument won't stand for scrutiny. The only plausible point is when prophet finished reciting the words (supposedly) whispered by the Satan, polytheist of Makkah rejoiced but right away we see the verses in which Qu'ran says they are only the names, so why did querish rejoiced? This does not make any sense. But again one could argue that after reciting the satanic verses prophet took a pause and everyone prostrated and later Allah abrogate those verses and bring two new verses and continued on to the verses where Qu'ran said they are just the names. Thankfully being a Shia of Ahlul Bayt we don't have to believe on this.

It's also impossible to really translate a book exactly in every word, and easy to make mistakes, deliberate or not, skewing the original content.
