Not only it this a very good track, from a musical perspective, but the sentiments expressed should also resonate with anyone who left their birth place in the hope of finding a better life elsewhere. ‘I left, always hoping to return. But never did.. . .’

Was in Tuam myself last week. Browne's pub is no more, but the N17 sure is. Love the piece in the song when the old fellah left him to Shannon and they turned left at Clare Galway. A song for good memories

I saw (no pun intended) them over the summer at The Balloon Fest on Long Island. Two people in the crowd were carrying an N17 banner around and Leo said it had been at every show on the tour so far. These guys are great. Great version of the song!!!

This is from a long long time ago, when they were still fresh and raw. Saw them in March in Detroit, and they seem to have lost their way a bit with the newer songs. Still prefer the old stuff.

Buíochas to Poser5k for posting this. Classic song. I remember at that time there was more of a Dublin-country divide.

Maybe my time line is messed up but I was pretty sure that Nighthawks ended years before this song was ever released. As far as I can remember Nighthawks ended some time in the mid eighties and this song came out in the early nineties.

Did Seán Doherty not go on Nighthawks to break the news about the CJH wire-tapping? If so, the programme would have run until 1992 at least.

I first heard this on the tv programme Nighthawks with Shay Healy. He appears in the opening seconds of this video in a check shirt. A great show and great music.

When I moved to the states in August of 2000 I was on the same flight as the guy with the glasses he sat a couple of seats in front of me. Six years later on my return flight home that tool Derek Davis from Live At Three shared the same honour
