I. FREAKING. LOVE. Ruby and Avery and their friendship!!! They’re so lovely and so funny and sweet!! Ruby reminds me so much of Renae, a student of my mom’s who I hang out with at lunch sometimes. She’s so happy and she always wants to sing and laugh and she just has so much love for everyone. And Avery is such a happy kid, I just love how much she loves joining in and having fun. I hope they can remain lifelong friends, many people don’t get to have a friendship as awesome as theirs. This is really special.

@NateEh it's a common fear of parents, relax. if you've never been exposed to children with disabilities, and because of his stigmatized it is, you will fear the unknown. this person is clearly saying that they are getting to a point where they won't have that fear.

@@bonnielauren2792 I dont like when people get so sensitive that they don't understand the obvious. Of course as a parent you're afraid of having a child that will likely be bullied terribly and have a difficult time adjusting to society. That doesn't mean you're evil.

In cases like Ruby's, having a mentally disabled child that can talk, form ideas and have some conversation is huge. Especially considering how many of them are nonverbal. I'm more afraid about having a nonverbal child than anything else. I'd probably use a dynavox or a tablet to have them communicate or try to teach them sign language if they were nonverbal from a mental disability.
