When I was a little kid playing online games someone approached me and said if I gave them my rare hat they would use it to manipulate the auction house then return it to me plus double it's value in coins. I'm so glad that scammer got my $10 hat because the lesson I learned from it was priceless.

@@LuisEdGm Sounds screwed up, but honestly.. yea. Got scammed out of a solid weeks worth of grinding gems(or whatever they were called) in Runescape as a kid. That was one of the most important lessons I ever learned, and it even thankfully got me out of the MMO scene entirely because I was so angry

Im on rush to buy an item on the town center and then theres a guy who pm me that he knows someone outside of the town that sells that, he said he will help me find him. He attacked me when we were outside, and my armor(forgetting im wearing it) returns a damage and gained me a negative karma, which would penalize me when I die. He killed me and I dropped 60million. Because of that I learned a valuable lesson all throughout my life that "nobody will help you, and if it appears so, it is because they would benefit from it"

The worst thing about these scams is that they really appeal to the people that need the money the most. The desperate. Sure, some rich people could buy into them, but it's a drop in the bucket, and they have the money to hire lawyers to drive the scam into the ground. The desperate people never do. They have very little money, and they always leave with even less.

When I was in college, a high school friend invited me to a "business" seminar in NYC. I remember in a carpool of a few people on the way there, a woman bragged about how tired her job was as a wall street broker. She said the pay was great but she was looking for something relaxing like managing an online shop, then she continued whatever we were driving to was the perfect thing for her. I was like okay. I didn't know what to expect. I was an engineering student back then. It was night and I had no idea where we were going but nonetheless, we were there and It was a small room packed with two dozen people. A middle aged man started the seminar by introducing himself. He said he used to be a karate instructor then he proceeded to complain about his former job being too harsh or not healthy for his physical body. For 10 years as a karate instructor, he said he didn't make much money until he found what he was going to sell to the room full of people. Whatever you may say about college, positive or negative, college is an experience and a professional seminar intends to educate attendees, not to sell, but to educate. When he opened up his "lesson" with a complaint and a promise, immediately it raised a red flag in my mind because that was unusual, but I was young, inexperienced, still had a lot to learn than teach, so I continued to listen. In the middle of his "lesson," he showed a graph of a mere curve and he called it exponential growth. The highest math I ever learned was Calculus 3 which was required by my major so I knew that curve was not rising exponentially and it was rising the opposite of what is exponential. The guy was full of bs and his "lesson" was quite hollow. He just talked how much money he made and how much money others made and how someone in the room got to Yale and her mom could pay for it. He showed a whole bunch of pictures of people and their online store fronts that sold their merchandises. There was so many red flags about the place and the people hyping the program. I came out the room feeling betrayed by my friend. Later I learned it was a MLM scheme. If someone promises you a fortune when you BUY A and B. RUN! It is a scam.

People say you can't see that from someones appearance, and yet everytime I watch these video's and see their faces I'm like "LOOK AT IT THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!", It's always a certain appearance, always looking way too smooth and buffed up. Also, I still can't believe people fall for these scams with so many years of knowledge and warnings. "But maybe this time it's not", yeah but likely it is, why waste your money on them when you an invest in more reliable investments? Unfortunately, that's how effective their information manipulation plays out. If it can convince that this "source" is deemed legit by a journalist or muck raker, it's going to require good counterpoints and evidence to prove otherwise. Even if the honest folk want no part of it, Information Warfare is utilized by civilian and state people alike, and misinformation is abound in the internet. The United States is a prime example of information twisted for political gain.

@@rp479 I am still figuring it out, but generally Blockchain provides a framework for scamming. The details may differ, but always promises are made that can't be kept, which the backers know in advance, so they prepare to take the money, sooner or later. The two things I am pretty sure about so far is first, GameStop's *self-custodial" crypto wallet Chrome extension has "Steal Me" written all over it, and their Blockchain will become a centralized brokerage for bots and farmers. Any developers foolish enough to interface with it will be assimilated by the Borg.

@@rp479 The wallets will be stolen. They are specifically designed to avoid any legal responsibility by GameStop, hence the "self-custodial." The extremely low "gas fees" of the GameStop Blockchain are designed to attract transactions, but are not sustainable in the long run. If someone is assembling the pieces of a scam in front of you, you don't need to know precisely the details of the scam to know that it's a scam. For example, if an "opportunity" promises absurd returns, you can be certain that it's a scam, even if you can't enumerate how precisely they will steal the money. This is the set up for a scam. It is a scam.

The really disgusting thing about MLMs is that they're not really targeting Joe the Plumber types looking for a magic portal to riches. Instead their primary targets are older people who don't have much in the way of family and are worried that what money they did save up won't be enough to see them through retirement. One of these outfits used to rent a ballroom at a hotel I worked at in the past for their sales pitches, and every single person that attended was a lonely looking 50-something who probably just wanted to make sure they weren't going to die on their feet as a Walmart greeter a couple decades down the road. It was really quite depressing and ended up being one of the reasons I ultimately quit that job.

To everyone calling people who fall for scams idiots or similar - try to have some empathy. Not everyone is knowledgeable about this kind of scheme, and people get desperate. Calling them names and taking the piss doesn't help.

2:56 It's not "or" it's "and" You need significant luck AND hard work to climb up. Having just one usually means you stay where you are and having neither means you'll go down.

Yeah sadly youtube ad review process seems to be lacking. You can post ads for some actual illegal things and only days or weeks later, if at all, does youtube take them down.

3:20 That should be an automatic "no" for anyone. People want to take your money and they will. If it appears they are not then you need to immediately assume they have some kind of roundabout way they are not telling you.
