There is actually no minimum wage in Sweden. Instead, it is the employers' association and the unions that make agreements about wages. Then it also applies to those who are not members of the union.

Collaboration dates back to before the Viking Age. The word "lagom"It comes from the fact that when you ate, for example, you would take just enough so that it was enough for the whole rowing team. Team is the same as "lag" In Swedish. So lagom is team around can it be translated into Swedish.

A better translation of "velferdsstat" than welfare state would probably be "a fare well (do well)" state. Maybe a bit simplistic, but "welfare state" gives too negative connotations, especially in the US but more generally in English as well, as in more like a "handout state".
