These aren't particularly scary, but I enjoy ones where we get to learn a bit about a character's backstory, like in "look homeward, ray" where ray visits his hometown, or "venkman's ghost repellers" where we meet peter's father. Aside from that, "the devil to pay" is a personal fav of mine and has a line in it which for some reason I think about constantly

Question: Why is the Boogeyman so hard for the guys to believe? True, it is a childhood fairytale, so some skepticism is called for, but these guys have faced down Sumerian Gods, Carpathian sorcerers, ghosts and spirits of all shapes and types, and even a literal Cthulhu analog. Boogey is far from the realm of impossibility.
@FictionAddiction6 ай бұрын
Best excuse is that this episode is an early one, and they may not have fought that many things yet. Might just be a case of just not taking kids seriously in general.
@crimsondragon16906 ай бұрын
@@FictionAddiction First off: Holy Carp, Esh is responding to my comment! 😁 Second; I hadn't considered that. Ghostbusters is, in fact, within my lifetime--I saw the original in theaters and sat for the cartoon's premier. It has been a long time since I watched TRGBs, so the timeline is a little muddled. @thefanwithoutaface81056 ай бұрын
My theory is because it's the easiest thing to explain. The Boogeyman in general is typically a product of a person's imagination or explanation for creepy shadows and noises they hear in their house, plus the fact he targets kids exclusively who are known for their overactive imagination allows for more understandable skeptcism.

I remember growing up watching this cartoon on ABC, then to syndication and then when it jumped back to ABC. Fun fact: Lorenzo Music (voice of Garfield) first started the voice of Peter Venkman in the first two seasons and then Dave Coulier (Full House) took over. Also Arsenio Hall provided the voice of Winston Zeddmore for the first three seasons and then Buster Jones took over. Maurice LaMaurche (Egon Spengler) and Frank Welker (Ray Stantz, Slimer, The Sandman and The Boogey Man) stayed all throughout the series. And the songs they have on the cartoon were pretty catchy (Listen to Driving Me Crazy and you won't be disappointed. LOL). These episodes are classics to me, especially "Knock, Knock". Really great video!

2:55 There’s always that one person in a horror scenario that has no survival instinct. If I would have been part of that group, and a demonic looking door tells me not to open it until doomsday, then I would have knocked Mr We’ve Got A Job To Do out, told the other two to take him and get the heck out, and would have sacrificed myself for the greater good to cave in the tunnel leading to the door. I actually agree with you on the Boogeyman. See, I barely remember this show from my childhood. I was a Ninja Turtles kid. The only two things I remembered about this show was that the animation looked REALLY old to me even back then and that one of the Ghostbusters sounded like Garfield. In the early 2000s, I rediscovered this show thanks to the internet and everybody kept saying that the boogeyman was one of the scariest villains on the show. I downloaded the episode from mIRC, watched it and was seriously underwhelmed. His design looked goofy as hell. There were MUCH scarier ghosts on the show, like What, Cthulu, Samhain, etc... But that's probably because I remember this character from my adult years rather than from my childhood.

I won't judge you for knowing Buer and the Ars Goetia. If anything, that example of the Joker and Buer having had a one-night stand was cool to see. Demonology has got a lot of cool stuff to offer-- not unlike yourself and your channel. When's Amamba and her band dropping a demonology-inspired album? The Thing in Mrs. Faversham's Attic stands out well with those trash golems too, especially the last one. But also for the bit you included where you called your mom. No undermining the moment or your genuine feelings towards it with a joke. That was... heartening. Very solid video of yours, man. Enjoyed it a lot.

Late for the party, and I never even watched the old Ghostbusters cartoon except seeing a commercial for it on a VHS tape for TMNT I rented WAY back in the day, but it's a show I've been aware of since I had some of the toys (the ghost designs made for the COOLEST toys) and often crossed them over with TMNT (New York, ghosts, mutants, it all fits together) and I often hear about it on nostalgic channels. While I knew of the boogey-man I think the episode with mrs Flaversham has made me impressed enough to seek out the series and try it for myself, if they can make episodes this good and emotional despite being made as a toyetic sales pitch to kids too young to understand that's what they were getting. Also, I wonder if the name "Flaversham" is a reference to the characters "Mrs Havisham" from Charles Dickens novel "Great expectations"... which I have only seen adaptations of, such as the South Park episode.
