I miss Collina so much. Any match reffed by him.... you just kinda felt safe from having to worry about controversial calls. As a German Bayern supporter I couldn't agree more with Kahn's quote. I remember several important games refereed by Collina the team I was rooting for lost, some of them unluckily, but never because of a controversial call. So I thought "Oh, Collina being the referee is kind of a bad omen", but I never believed he was biased, not even subconsciously.

Nigel Owens. Rugby Union. This ref had the respect of players that were twice his size and he had a sense of humour. You should hear some of his commentary to the players. One thing I respect Refs the most is, it can be even more physically demanding to be a ref than a player. A defender may not need to go up front(or vice versa) but a ref always need to keep an eye on the ball and the players near it.

And good for us, there are now lots of his highlights uploaded online. We owe it to the younger generation to revisit Nkono in action, it's pure old school artistry.
