Yes. The only way to accomplish their goals was to allow NO FOOLISHNESS. This is the opposite of America now.

Thank you presenting Colleen Moore in the first sound version of The Scarlett Letter. I saw this on TCM recently and was impressed with her performance as Hester. I'm glad I saw this on YT. One of three films Moore did in 1934 (the others were Success at Any Price and Social Register). And still beautiful at 35 when this movie came out. Now on to her silent films.

One of the last appearances by 20's silent star Colleen Moore. This one was far from the 'flapper' films she made at First National, but she had amassed a good-sized fortune by this time and retired comfortably; something many stars of her time never could do.

The approach of making movies back then was great, very simple, just make them, now it's overcomplicated by so many things.....greetings from Belgium.

We all carry guilt in our hearts for the sins we commit, for we are born sinning, only when we die do we stop. There is an intermediary between us and God, his son Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns forever beside the Father and will speak as our lawyer at our trial when we face judgement. For every sin he gave his blood to wipe our slates clean, continue to go to him for every sin you commit and he will hear you and cover it up.

WHAT A MOVIE RATING IT AT... 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 MY OPINION Weed Me
@ZeoViolet
@ZeoViolet Ай бұрын
Yeah...they didn't execute her because they couldn't prove her husband was actually still alive and that she wasn't just a widow who got lonely (well, she got lonely at any rate...) An unmarried woman lured into sin didn't carry as strong a punishment as a woman who was proved to still have a living husband, so the doubt saved her life, at the exchange of wearing a letter on her breast in public. In the book, she was not under any obligation to wear it after her day standing in shame in public with her baby. As nasty as Chillingworth turned out to be, I give him one credit: He had no interest in avenging himself or harming Pearl in any way, and left all his goods to her after he died, so he was not one to persecute the innocent.

To the people of Puritan New England this was not backward thinking. Conversely, we now have 38% of American children.. across all demographics.. are growing up with no father in the home and the downfall of America is the price we are paying for sin.
