I love when they say: "Some kind of flower" "It is a scarlet pimpernel". One of the most BA things Percy says. And "I don't much care for the buckle" it never applies, and yet I am always quoting it.

This film has some of the best swordplay I’ve ever seen- like nothing feels forced, it’s palpably dangerous, and they’re going at it still completely in character! The lack of music helps emphasize the very real sound of steel on steel, and I never get the sense that this is rehearsed! Brilliant!!

This with that final duel in The Mark of Zorro 1940. Well, Tyrone Power and Basil Rathbone were after all both elite fencers to begin with - wich made that incredible daring fencing scene one of the most trustworthy in the history of cinema.

One of my favorites I remember seeing it on TV as a kid and becoming obsessed for some reason. I was so stoked when I was able to start finding physical copies of it. But the best memory was when I actually received the soundtrack from the composer Nick Bicât himself purchased from his website about 15 years ago. The score is so beautiful.

I have watched this version of this movie at least 10 times over the last 30 years, and it is definitely in my top 25 favorite movies of all time. Jane Seymour was, and still is, so beautiful. Anthony Andrews was so believable in both his role as The Pimpernel, and his characterization of Sir Percy. Ian McKellan showed many flashes of the great actor he would become, and each of the other cast members was believable in their roles. This is a movie I would enjoy seeing in 1 of the "Flashback Movies", as I just enjoyed the showing of Dr. Zhivago last month, which coincidentally is also among my top 25 favorites. It is 2017 (nearly 2018), we have hundreds of available distractions, yet this movie entertained me for over 2 hours. Well Done!

Excellent Movie!! Wonderful Script, excellent acting, great action, and no sex, no gratuitous violence and no filthy language! An all around decent film. Music was well fitted to the time period as well. The photography was good too. Why can't Hollywood make movies like this anymore?? Hollywood has too much access to technology--and they think audiences need too much violence, sex and language. Well, news flash--5.7K of us do not, as by the current likes up there! Pay attention to US! I quit going to movie theaters. I just quit. I no longer own a television set, and do not watch cable TV either. Forget it. I am picky and choosy and look for quality programs on KZbin. Thanks for posting this excellent film. This IS one I have not seen. I have the book, which I will now read. Saw this film, thought I would watch it. So glad I did. Bless you for posting it. I am in a hospital bed in pain tonight, took my mind right off my pain. I was thoroughly entertained. The Scarlet Pimpernel is, sink me, one of if not the best period drama ever produced for television! All involved should be rightfully proud. Its production values are fantastic, the acting superb across the board, the story a captivating one, too! It has a comedic side, which thankfully is never overdone, well-crafted dialogue, adventure, political intrigue, a historical backdrop of immense significance, an excellent score and to cap it all off, a riveting end with a typically unpredictable twist which segues nicely into a wonderfully choreographed swashbuckling sword fight between our hero and his nemesis. I cannot find a single thing wrong with this and perhaps the icing on the cake is the exquisite Jane Seymour, she gives a performance of subtle depth which goes hand in glove with Anthony Andrews’ depiction of Sir Percy Blakeney which he handles with no small degree of aplomb. Three cheers for the Scarlet Pimpernel!!! Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray!! Hip-hip-hooray!!!

Sir Perceville mocked Chauvelin over his dress, which the French are so proud of, then he insulted him even further by literally undressing him during dueling, which the French are also proud of. This is the essence of giving someone a "dressing down." Brilliant!

One of my favourite films. Anthony Andrews does an excellent job here! Got the character to be a truly memorable one! I just love his expressions and received pronunciation, and his phrases are so deeply ingrained into the audience! As for Jane Seymour, I have been a fan since 1980! She never ceases to entertain. She also does and excellent memorable role as Marguerite St. Just showing that women can be gallant too! Delightful!

As a family, we fell in love with this TV adaptation in the early 1980s and watched it a couple of times a year through my children's college years. My sons had many of Percy's lines memorized. As a child I read the books on which this story is based. I was thrilled to see that even though changes were made, this adaptation was a wonderful adaptation of the books I read.

My nana would watch this movie every night she went to bed, she had one of the disks that plays the movie automatically so the movie would run on repeat all night. I would fall asleep about halfway through and wake up around where I fell asleep on it's 3rd or 4th play in the morning. My nana and I always finished it before getting up for the day. This brings back so many memories and I'm glad I can see it again.

I had to get the book after I saw this movie when it first came out. I just have always loved this movie, and Anthony Andrews for all these many years! It was my escape when my babies were asleep in bed at night! Even if for just a few moments. I finally wore my book out. My images while reading the book (over and over) were the memories of the movie. So happy to now see it again. They same delightful feelings came back when I see it again. Thank you Anthony Andrews and all of the other actors and producers, writers, you broadened my horizons, and gave me respite from my everyday toil and trials!

This is such a good adaptation of the first book, Eldorado, and some of the short stories blended really seamlessly into a brilliant film, I love how it uses details from the first book to show Sir Percy and Marguerite falling in love and the moment he decided not to trust her with the truth (since they are already married by the time they are introduced in the first book and you find these details out as the story progresses)

I've always loved this story!! The book and the original black&white movie are both classics. But I have to admit this might be my favorite version, the main sin of the original is it's too short. It doesn't get into Percy and Marguerite's meeting and courtship... it also needed to spend more time on the Terror. This makes up for all the above. THANK YOU!! Thank you so much for the up load!! I just watched A Tale of Two Cities (1936) on TCM. They could have used the Scarlet Pimpernel to rescue Ronald Colman from the guillotine. Sad ending.
