Those audio recordings freak me out every time I hear them. Thank you for translating them to english. This is one case go back & forth if true possession or if mental illnesses, but in the end, just feel truly sad.

Those recordings....😮 I can't imagine the strain those screams and growls put on her vocal chords. Whilst I cannot decide if this was genuine possession or mental illness, it will always be a horrific and tragic case.

Even if it was true, she should have been some place where they could chemically shut down her body and pump nutrients into her body daily. When they realized they couldn’t feed her then they should have sought help.

I watched the movie long time age. It made me sad rather than terrified watching how such a sweet girl suffered so much and eventually died . I really feel sorry for her .

Anneliese was the right age for onset of schizophrenia. When doctors did the autopsy, they might've missed any abnormalities of the brain. I think she probably suffered from it, but more was going on that can't be explained away so easily. I definitely think her strict religious upbringing contributed to her ordeal. I grew up in Bavaria and am old enough to remember the case. The tapes are ultra scary.

I agree. Her super strict religious upbringing played a role without a doubt. One or more of the doctors testified to that at trial. And I agree, those tapes are scary as hell.

Difficult for me to believe Anneliese's sufferings were anything other than earthly related, as I am a cynic where religions are concerned, and prefer to rely on scientific explanations.Clearly she suffered atrociously, as the record shows - and presumably her parents too, albeit to a much lesser extent. However I have personally encountered individuals with chronic and significant emotional suffering and mental agony (through an old friend and brilliant psychiatrist for the criminally insane) and can understand why such person's behaviors can be attributed by the average religious person as somehow 'irrefutable evidence' of 'demonic possession'. There is indeed too much suffering in the world. Thank you for this well researched and presented recounting of her very sad and too short life.

I read about the autopsy and the court case and they determined her parents were responsible for not getting her medical attention. Autopsy said she died of dehydration and malnutrition

I went to seminary school, where I spoke with several exorcists about demonic possession. They did say cases like these were likely misdiagnosed cases of mental illness. They believed true demonic possession will never make itself as apparent as what was captured on these tapes. True evil is always appealing and plays on one's insecurities regarding their place in the world, always promising advancement or quelling the threat brought upon by foes. This does appear to be a severe case of catatonic schizophrenia, just with outbursts likely inspired by the exorcisms. Paranoia is already rampant in the brain, so she likely embraced a demonic demeanor to fight off the priests who she felt were a threat, and being malnourished, she was primed and ready to act out

Hi....is there anyone from Klingenberg or anyone who knew her relatives(family members)?!....if yes, who were these people?!....what were the opinions about them?!.....were they considered to be strange or weird?!... I don't know, but I am getting weird vibes about her mother....I think she was dominant, strict, extreme religious....I can imagine that the extreme religious beliefs could drive somebody crazy overtime....it is nothing wrong about being religious, unless that person is not harming or jeopardize sg's life.... Her family members did so!!!!...they claimed the medications were not helping, but the exorcisms did not help her either!!!...why they felt the need to perform 67excorcisms on her?!... After she died her mother said that she didn't regret her death?!...of course!!!....she died at 23, she did not deserve to die so young... In my opinion she needed help and protection, but not against the devil!!!.... against her family, the priests(one of them also had schizofrenia)!!!....these people failed this young woman miserably!!! I feel so sorry for her....hopefuly now she rests in peace because obviously, she did not have any peace while she was alive....the only thing her parents deserved was jail, and nothing else 😠
