Been there at night and it was creepy because of desolation but nothing crazy happened. This place sucked to live in though.

I grew up not too far from the cemetery. My friends and I planned to go there to see if it were fraudulent. But were warned not to go there because his brothers had said he went there and seen them…I was always fascinated by the stories of that and Resurrection Mary. One day (now live in Tennessee) I plan to go back to check it out.

There are a lot of haunted locations in that area. I'm actually working on a video right now that includes some of them.

How did Cuba Road get its name?
@StrangeandSinister1
@StrangeandSinister1 2 күн бұрын
The road is named after its township. It was originally called Troy Township, but was renamed Cuba Township in 1850 to show support for the López Expedition of 1851 and the insurrection on the island of Cuba at the time.

During the day it isn't creepy at all, at least in my experience. The noise from the cars passing by on the turnpike is kind of distracting, but being in the forest at night is a different story. That place is creepy at night.

Many of the circumstances of this story seem to be the inspiration for the Chicago urban legend of the similar figure of "Resurrection Mary". She also appeared to sighters in a white dress and according to some accounts I have read, was an Italian bride.

Thanks for another fascinating piece of local history. I am taken by two things - there seems to be SO many cemeteries in Wisconsin that are claimed to be haunted. This is not the norm for other states i s it? Second, the fact that cemeteries attract vandals. As counsel i know that desecration of graves occur for religious or racial reasons - but occasionally they're just out of petty, destructive behavior. Amazing. Being pushed off the Jackson-Walker mausoleum sure is spine-tingling - as you say at the end, it's just plain disrespectful to climb all over or use it as some casual resting place. I found the grave of Chief Highknocker, and others with tragic histories, very intriguing to say the least! Thnks again!

Thank you. Yes Wisconsin is often considered to be one of the most haunted states in the US. There are so many places I want to cover as well as places in other states. Yeah it's terrible, and they're lucky the roof didn't collapse when sitting on it. There are large cracks that have been repaired.

stories like mary's are very common in latin american folklore... espcially the part where the deceased ask for a ride and are dropped off at the entrance of the cemetery... so many people can't tell the same lie

Went to UW Whitewater. I lived in the 6 pack and my friends lived in Wells hall so in order to get to their dorm, I'd have to walk through the path that was right next to the cemetery. I'd always end up walking back late at night by myself and it always gave me the creeps.

That would be a creepy walk at night. The cemetery looks so out of place in the middle of the campus. A long time ago it was completely surrounded by farmland.
