So much important info missing. The year he went to Bayern Munich, klopp and Liverpool had 3 players at top of their list, Tchumeni, Bellingham and Gravenberch, but when he went to bayern they wrote him off the list naturally assuming he would be with Bayern for a few years. Klopp also came brought him on as a sub against man city in epl when Liverpool were 1-0 down in the first season, which shows he was trusted , he proceeded to leave Rodri for dust, driving Liverpool forward and resulted in an equaliser (think TAA) In that snippet, we all saw what he was capable of, unfortunately it just took a bit of time for him to get back to playing at the level on a more consistent basis

In my humble opinion, young players should be protected against moving to top teams at a too young age if it's not your home country. Your mind and mental resiliance (is that proper English?) Still have to grow. So, a set back was likely to follow. It's great to see how he's playing now but here's the next challenge for him. It's easier to get to the top than to stay at the top. For Liverpool and for the Dutch team I hope he can stay at the top.

When you buy a player like Gravenberch from Ajax because of his role in the Ajax team, you may expect him to be played in that role. Classical faults made by Bayern. Maybe the coaches, which are not top coaches imo, did not liked his style, or felt he was enforced on them. Coaches don't build the team or strategy around someone they do not know, like or refuse to give credit to, like Ziyech with Chelsea, Seedorf with Hiddink at Real Madrid. Slot was already impressed by Gravenberch in the matches with Ajax AZ and Feyenoord. There he saw his capabilities.

@@YourFootballZone OK. Klopp never signed him as a DM anyway so how could he be an alternative? That doesn't make sense. He barely played at Bayern so he was always going to need time. Calling him "secondary to Klopp's plans" & "failed" is ridiculous. He put in some really promising performances especially at the start of last season. He created the goal away at City by carrying the ball 60 years and leaving Rodri in his wake. Please name the "loyal supporters" who gave up on him? Liverpool fans certainly didn't and please explain how the club gave up on him? You also have no idea how the potential signing of Zubimendi would have effected him.
