In the first of three EPIC installments of our interview with David Ifft, the longtime NASCAR crew chief talks about going from shop to shop to shop in his drive to land a dream gig in the sport, before finally getting hooked up with Bud Moore Engineering.
After that, it was on to DiGard Racing, where he reunited with Darrell Waltrip AND doubled his salary to a whopping $700 a week. However … because it was DiGard … a parting of the ways was almost inevitable.

Mr. David is such a nice, down-to-earth man. His daughter and I have been friends since we were 12. Such a great family!

I have not watched the video yet, just saw the tittle...Ifft, w/BM and w/DiGR. My Ifft story is 1990's and 2000's with Bown Racing and Rensi Racing. David Ifft is a hard nosed take no prisoners' get it done Car/crew chief. If a competitor needed help thou, in later years, he gave it. Yea! maybe late in his career he softened a touch, But! he helped all rise to the occasion. That is how I remember David Ifft...Just so you all know...He is a hard nosed racer with a soft spot for the underfinanced...TY David, ill never forget the 360 RG you loaned us and helped us pay for out trip to Rockingham... You are a good person DI...hope this video validates your great reputation with us all... TY TSV...

Thanks guys, another great interview. I think it's people like Mr. Ifft that made NASCAR what it was back when it was the people's sport. This channel is the best!

The first time I ever heard of David Ifft he was crew chief for Benny Parsons on the No. 27 car and then Cale when Cale left Junior to run a limited Schedule and when Cale went to Harry Rainer with Waddell Wilson as crew chief Rainer hired David to help with the setup. I’ve always had a ton of respect for David.
